yes and yes. Cocu's pass was Stoitchkov-like. Beautiful trap, second touch and finish by DaMarcus. peter
Are we ever going to see a similar quality play for the Fire again? (i feel like it was missing this past season - and no shots from outside of 16, too.) I am talking about a pass. I bet Herron would put it away as well and not looking surpriesed like DaMarcus when he realized the ball bounced his way.
Well, look at the players in question, and find out what they have in common. Hmm... let's see... what could it be... Ahh yes! Barcelona! Both Stoitchkov and Cocu were/are heros at Nou Camp, home of the finest quality futbol on the planet. So Peter, what do we have to do to get Pep Guardiola in Fire red?
one thing that hasn't been mentioned much - if at all - is that the 2004 Fire was the second youngest team in MLS (behind Metros). And even then, we were missing our three oldest (most expeienced) players for big parts of the season - Ante, Chris and Jesse. i think that lack of experience partially addresses the concern above. Craig and Thiago are exected to help in this regard in 2005. Craig received important experience in the last year with the Fire and the U-20s. It would also help to bring in an experience creative midfielder to improve the last pass in the attack. We have the allocation and we are shopping. peter
no fans are "ordinary" season ticket holders will be formally invited. Other fans will be informally invited. peter
Piotr has won one trophy so far, an Eastern Conference championship. Our coach has matched his Eastern Conference trophy and has also won a US Open Cup and Supporters Shield championship on top of it. Piotr is a very good coach, and led his team to a record of 11-10-9 and a spot in MLS Cup this season. Dave is also a very good coach and his record compares favorably. peter
Peter, You have stated that you have season tickets for the Storm. Are you utilizing this as a means to scour the indoor ranks for potential signees? [If this has been addressed, I apologize.] If so, how would you describe the standard of play/of players in that league? Cheers!
That's not the main reason. It's really to show support for the Storm and to offer entertainment opportunities for Fire clients and staff. There are certainly indoor players who can play in MLS, however, and it is good to keep tabs on potential outdoor players. peter
Peter, I wouldn't doubt that at all... I've yet to be able to make it out for a Storm match, but I do intend to catch a few as my schedule permits. I'd like to show support for Frankie and what he's put together on the near west side... How are the "rent-a-Fire" players doing so far in the indoor game? [Since we haven't heard from Berwyn Blazer in awhile] How is JAMAR doing in the indoor game? OK, back to my beer for now...
i wonder if there is there time to set up a special edition of the Curt Johnson is a Douchebag Express
