Re: Any questions for Peter Wilt? Peter, I'd like to agree with this statement, but I'm still confused at times about the machinations at the league office from time to time; I have a sub-query to my "clavinball" question: Has anyone in the MLS offices explained to you the "Returning National Team Player" rule? As I recall, this so-called "rule" has been used only once in MLS history: To bring the [to that point] never-capped Johnny Walker into the league [yet somehow Walker was a "national team player"]. Now, we've seen the league force Twellman to enter the Superdraft, despite having a better "national team" resume at the U-20 and U-23 level than Walker at the time of their entry into MLS. John Thorrington is another player with more of a national team resume than Walker, and this rule/non-rule is somehow not applicable to his case. Why weren't these players "Returning National Team Players" where Walker was considered a "Returning National Team Player?" Also: Is there any remaining interest in the near-trialist Jonathon Carlos Elliott? Thanks again, Peter
Re: Any questions for Peter Wilt? Peter, How come there is no mention of tonight's game in The Fire Insider that I received a few mintutes ago? Is it sold out? Thanks.
Re: Any questions for Peter Wilt? a) non fire fans asking questions b) people asking stupid questions c) lack of the funny.
Re: Any questions for Peter Wilt? Nobody pay attention to the Noob. Peter, Does Beasley's immediate success at PSV raise the value of our Beasley allocation or is it pretty much set?
Dear Peter, I hear you have some beef with Doug Hamilton (LA GM). I myself do not like Doug either. You struck me as a nice guy when you came and said hello to the 11 LA fans that came over to Chicago to play the Sect 8 team. That was all class. So my question is............were you at the game on 8-21 and did you like our "Fuera Doug" banner. I just hope you got a good chuckle out of it.
Peter and Doug were very friendly in November. they both even came to the breakfast before the final.
Peter, First, thanks for the advice on the turf toe...rest seemed to help. Now, my new question. It was announced today that the Fire are going to be playing in the inaugural Hall of Fame game. Considering the Fire will be losing players for three games I believe due to qualifiers, why take the risk to play in Oneonta in October (where it will quite possibly be pretty cold), when the Fire could be playing in a critical game in New England five days later?
Hey Peter With the Fire playing in the US Soccer Hall of Fame ceremonies, and playing in the US Open Cup Final, I was curious to hear if the idea of having the US Open Cup Final take the place of the Hall of Fame Game? I don't know if the Hall of Fame inducts every year, but if it does, it would bring some base for where the US Open Cup final is played. Thanks again
Not true. H is a great guy, a great friend and, in my opinion, the best GM in MLS. i was not at the 8-21 game. Heard about the banner. i think fan banners like that are a good indication that MLS is generating fans that are passionate and care about our sport, League and teams. LA fan base seems to be growing in that regard. Glad the team/stadium left the banner up. it's important not to repress fans opinions. We had a really loud and obnoxious heckler behind our bench last night who went at it the entire game. The small crowd made the situation worse. We decided to let him have his say as long as he kept his comments within common public decency. Jimmy did take matters into his own hands after the victory, however peter
not a regular poster here.... but I would like a question to ask of Mr. Wilt! How do the Fire (and MLS specifically) feel about bringing in famed youth talent from around the world? I guess I'm wondering is do the powers that be see MLS as a future league where the best young talent in the world come to play? Or a league where the best players, period come to play? Sorry if this has already been asked earlier!
Correction re: previous question about national team players missing games, Damani and Andy will be available 9/1, but not 9/4. peter
This is an old one i didn't get to on previous thread....sorry been busy with stuff. pjw Quote: Originally Posted by Peter Wilt Unlikely. If it wasn't just GMSpeak, and you really only consider Spector to be a project, what is your basis? I know you must have seen him in Chicago against Bayern. What did you see in that match, or any other, that would lead you to believe that Spector couldn't help the Fire? I'm honestly not trying to bait you into an argument or anything. I'm just curious as to what it is that you look for in a Fire defender that Spector doesn't have.
As far as the defender goes... Is a player like LA's Bo... a viable replacement. I don't know how much he costs, or anything along those lines. Are you looking for a stop gap player or one who would fill the role now and for the future?
You do mean the guy in the Bayern Munich shirt, I presume? If so I saw him being detained by police after the game.
I heard him yelling at Jimmy but I didn't see what Jimmy did. Curtin is great at doing things that people don't notice. Like elbowing K.C. players in K.C. or throwing huge divots of grass at refs when they aren't paying attention.
