Well what are the Leafs, Toronto FC and the Blue Jays supposed to do? Sure, the Leafs didn't make the playoffs this year, but what if they make it next year? Wouldn't that be something major, that can attract sponsors, over the 2015 Games less than 3 months prior? What if Toronto FC has another good Champions League run?

Those are permanent attractions in a city, which technically can't be controlled. Toronto Fc and the Blue Jays have agreed to vacate their stadiums for the games for example. What drives PASO crazy is the bidding and winning of an event that happens occasionally, and can be controlled. Look at Istanbul with the Olympics and Euro 2020.

There are two sets of dates CSA is looking at.

    June 5-28
    June 12-July 5

I think the first set will win out.

It's usually 30-33C in July in most cities hosting, or 85-90F for those gentle souls insulated from the world outside their borders.

I didn't know Dick’s Sporting Goods Stadium in Colorado would be a venue for the 2015 WWC in Canada. Please tell us you are not a total moron, despite your post.

So you mean that Canada will actually have the matches played in the southern cities not in its wide open nothern spaces?

Yes, the opening game will be played at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City (our southernmost city) in the province of Colorado. This is to avoid concerns over a June snowfall.

It looks like BMO field won't be used at the Pan American Games. -,- SO perfect opportunity lost.

It never was going to be used, AFAIK, so I'm not sure what opportunity was lost. The PanAms have exclusivity agreements which prevent other events such as the WWC from being held in the area for a certain amount of time before and after the PanAm games. That is why Toronto didn't (couldn't) bid to host WWC games.

The new Hamilton stadium will host the PanAm soccer games.

Correction to above... BMO was under consideration to host some PanAm soccer games but it has been announced Ivor Wynne will now host all PanAm soccer games.

Yes, but the agreement with PASO is any venues being used for the Pan Ams can't be used for a major event. BMO field won't be used so there shouldn't have been a problem (unless some other sport like rugby will be held there). However there were reports earlier that BMO field had concerns with so many soccer games being played within a short time span.

    seems fair.

my early guesses as to who qualifies:

UEFA: Germany, Sweden, France, England, Spain, Denmark, Netherlands, Norway
AFC: China, Japan, Australia, South Korea, Thailand
CONCACAF: USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, [Jamaica*]
    CONMEBOL: Brazil, Colombia, [Chile]
    CAF: Nigeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea
    OFC: New Zealand
    Hosts: Canada
    *Jamaica beats Chile.

This is pretty much what I said would happen, back first when we were told it was going to 24.

A couple people were complaining that CONCACAF getting 4.5 was too much, but remember, FIFA NEVER counts the host when giving spots out or considers the quality of team that taking a spot.

Just going by FIFA Rankings, the next women's World Cup could look like this:
UEFA (8): Germany, Sweden, France, England, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Netherlands
CONCACAF (3.5+1), USA, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Trinidad & Tobago
    COMMEBOL (2.5): Brazil, Colombia, Argentina
AFC (5): Japan, Australia, Korea Republic, China, Thailand
    CAF (3): Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana
    OFC (1): New Zealand
*Argentina defeats Trinidad & Tobago in playoff

    Pots:
Seeded: USA, Germany, Japan, Sweden, Brazil, Canada
Europe: France, England, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Netherlands
NA & Asia: Mexico, Costa Rica, Australia, Korea Republic, China, Thailand
Rest: Colombia, Argentina, Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana, New Zealand

    Group A:
    Canada
    England
    Korea Republic
    Colombia

    Group B:
    USA
    Netherlands
    Australia
    Ghana

    Group C:
    Sweden
    France
    China
    Argentina

    Group D:
    Japan
    Italy
    Mexico
    Nigeria

    Group E:
    Brazil
    Norway
    Thailand
    New Zealand

    Group F:
    Germany
    Denmark
    Costa Rica
    Cameroon

If FIFA stick with the seeding procedure from WWC2011 (only the top ranked country from each confederation can be seeded) Sweden will not be seeded and New Zeeland will instead get that spot (being higher ranked than the best CAF country). A harder interpetation of the would be that only one country/confederation can be seeded and then USA would loose the seeded spot to Nigeria(top CAF country in the ranking). But it is unlikely that the rule wuill be kept and extremly unlikely that it will be kept in the strict interpetation.

They will seed the teams as they see fit. They always did it that way, that's why they never clarify in the rules how the teams are gonna get seeded.

anyone have any details about qualifying tournaments for the 2015 WWC?? CONMEBOL & OFC will likely be in 2014 and CAF will likely use the 2014 African Women's Championship(in Namibia).

Nothing yet, but UEFA will start it in the fall/winter of 2013 (after the European chamiponships) and have it run during 2014 (based on that how they run qualifications). I guess they will split it in 8 groups and have the winners qualify, but there are a few possible variations on that.

Man, the UEFA qualifying is going to be extremely exciting.
8 spots, and that means so many growing nations in Europe now have a greater realistic chance of qualifying. It used to be that the traditional nations (such as Germany, Norway, Sweden, England, France, Denmark, Italy, etc.) were the only ones that would make the World Cup. You knew it would be 5 of those 7 nations each time. Now, there will be like 15 nations in UEFA fighting for these 3 new spots (spot #6, spot #7, and spot #8) that have been given to UEFA (deservedly so, with a 24 nation world cup).

The UEFA qualifying rounds will almost be even more exciting than the actual 2015 WWC.

These nations now have a fighting chance to get to the World Cup (and should prepare like mad to get there), to join the likes of Germany, Norway, Sweden, France, England, etc. from UEFA.

    Italy
    Denmark
    Spain
    Netherlands
    Russia
    Switzerland
    Ukraine
    Iceland
    Finland
    Scotland
    Ireland
    Czech Republic
    Belgium
    Poland
    Hungary
    Romania

The ones in bold text are the ones that significantly improved their chances.
The additional 3 spots to UEFA, should go to three of these nations, to join the current traditional five (Germany, Norway, Sweden, France, England).

Pot Predictions: (What pot, aka Loo, will each team be sitting on going in to the draw)

Loo #1: (expensive toilet seat): USA, Germany, France, Brazil, Japan, Canada (host)
Loo #2: (middle class soft seat): Sweden, England, Norway, Italy, Netherlands, Spain
Loo #3: (chipped wooden seat): Australia, South Korea, China, Thailand, Mexico, Costa Rica
Loo #4: (hole in the ground loo): Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Colombia, Argentina, New Zealand

    Group A
    Canada (host)
Norway (Canada vs. Norway play their group match in the snow)
    Thailand
    New Zealand

    Group B
Germany (Germany always gets stuck in a tough group)
    Netherlands
    Australia
    Colombia

    Group C
    Japan
Spain (Spain will be Top 12 in the world by 2015)
    Costa Rica
    Nigeria

    Group D
Brazil (Marta may be liking Sweden now, but she won't be liking them much in 2015)
    Sweden
    South Korea
    Cameroon

    Group E
    USA
    England
China (world powers in advanced nations, USA, England, and China, all in the same group)
    Ghana

    Group F
    France
Italy (France vs. Italy will be a very entertaining Euro sizzle match in 2015)
    Mexico
Argentina (this whole group is rather intriguing, and Argentina often plays Mexico tough)

These groups present the most attractive matchups:

Marta vs. Sweden (the best match of the group stage overall)

USA vs. China, USA vs. England, China vs. England (advanced powers in the world collide on the women's world cup stage)

USA vs. Ghana (Ghana's style always gives U.S. men's soccer fits, and U.S. Women's youth soccer fits in youth world cups)

Japan (possession) vs. Nigeria (speed) (such clashing styles)

Japan vs. Spain (Spain will be borderline top 10 by then, and a very dangerous team)

Mexico vs. Argentina (Concacaf vs. Conmebol, still a very heated rivalry match when they play against each other, such passion when they collide)

Germany vs. Netherlands (Germans vs. Dutch. Always interesting. Dutch are jealous of Germany's mystique, history, and extensive success in football. The Dutch will be out for blood. It will be a rough and rugged match)

Germany vs. Australia (De Vanna's speed, if she still has it by then, against Germany's tough defense. Kyah Simon's maturation against Germany. Popp wants to slay the Matildas undisciplined defense. This could end up a 3-2 or 4-2 match, much like the Germany vs. France group match in the 2011 WWC)

Canada vs. Norway (in the snow? Viking represent in the chilled weather. Polar bear. Klondike. Respect the cold weather nations in this match. Norway will be back as a world power in women's football)

Canada vs. New Zealand (the head coach at Canada against his former pupils)

France vs. Italy (always an exciting Euro match-up, men's or women's)

    -------------------------------------------------------------

    Let the group action begin.
    In roughly 36 months.
