    6 Amy LE PEILBET
    11 Alex KRIEGER
    14 Stephanie COX
    19 Rachel BUEHLER

No one, exce Rampone, on this backline has the pace or the FOOTball skills to deal with Marta or Christy when she is on. Amazing, Pia didn't roster one, fast marking back. They'll either get ran off the field by Brasil or heart it out with Solo in net. Just how Brasil and USA play it out all the time, but no subbing combo will matter with the group. Go with what they had vs Sweden, and just dont get the unlucky bounces.

You all think that Lepeilbet was the only problem your crazy. Buehler has been a major issue also. Sauerbrunn can cover much more ground than her. And put Cox outside. Its hilarious that any think Rampone has pace ( I guess if your comparing her to Buehler). I don't know who made these defensive selections but its very poor. If this is the best America has were in trouble. I'm sorry were already in trouble.

Seems that the playing field in womens soccer has levelled out quite a bit in the past few years. Looks like this tournament could be anyones to win at this stage.

Rampone was able to match Oqvist in the game against Sweden. She's fast. Thank God.

    Christie Rampone (captain)
    Ali Krieger
    Becky Sauerbrunn
    Lori Chalupny (if healthy)

would have been the best four starters on defense.

Since Chalupny isn't available, Whitney Engen would have been next best in line. She brings great pace and tough physical challenge.

Brittany Taylor and a USA national team developed (from a year ago) Keeley Dowling, would have been my backups, had I been coach, and would have planned and prepared it a year ago.

Like I said earlier, I wouldn't have had LePeilbet, Buehler, Mitts, or Cox on my roster. Maybe Cat Whitehill as the 7th and final defender on the roster, as she brings lots of experience.

stars in the logo? WGAF (and that's *not* a radio station).

Should be an interesting battle on the pitch. Hopefully the Aussie referee can recognize a dive when she sees one as well as deal with off the ball incidents. The quality of the ARs will be crucial to the success of the game.

Off to bed now if you want to catch the early game. :)

    Where is the prediction thread??

I think the Samba queens will likely take this in an upset.

Exactly, not sure how anyone would consider Brasil winning an upset.

This US team is tailor made for Brasil to exploit them defensively. Hope Solo will have to come up huge. There will be a lot of whiffs as Brasilians beat American defenders.

no, but I think it would be a hoot if they did. I could imagine it would cause quite the stir if they did. The obvious problem would be that Germany would have something like 18 stars and would have a kit that would start to look like the stars were part of the design.

Ok. I'm not a fan of keeping the same lineup by Pia. but I've been pessimistic about this game for a while.

I'm not going to post during the game and likely to not be around for a day or two b/c I've got work later today & work tomorrow.

Good luck to the USWNT. We're going to need it.

3 up top - USA breaks thru Dia's sweeps

2 up top - Brasil on a rampage on this USA

    Hope On - 1-0 USA

    Marta On - 3-1 Brasil

I call that even. Lets see which happens.

I agree Brazil could win and I'm actually picking them but most in the media favor the U.S.

Also Pia just told her team after the Sweden loss that they will go to the final and win it.

With the history of U.S. winning and their recent dominance over Brazil it would be an upset if Brazil wins. Just watch and listen to the ESPN pundits say 2 big upsets of Germany and the U.S. if Brazil wins.

Backline doesnt matter without a marking back. 2 up top will have a hard time getting past Dia's sweeps. All I see is abby on sets or a long shot from chaney. Pia is crazy not to go 3 up top in this game. Attack the sweeper (test her with arod and morgans pace coming forward) and erika.

Hope for USA - Hope stops everything. That's it.
