Wait, I missed it! What was the color of the first backhoe? Edit: never mind, I see it now... blue. Crisis averted. Anyway looks like they have begun. Still no renderings.
i think he was making a grammar joke .... as in a high school that was cheap, meaning they had no money or were miserly with their money, wouldn't spend the amount necessary to build a nice stadium by virtue of the fact they were "cheap".
Allen High School in Texas appears to be a public school, meaning free tuition... it doesn't get cheaper than free.
My impression of the rendering of the Quakes stadium (if it is real) is that the stands were steel girded -- like most high school stadiums. And the Crew stadium I believe. I hope that is not what they end up with. I live in Allen and have been to the new stadium many times and although its a bit small (18k), it would make an awesome MLS stadium. And if a high school can do it - surely an pro soccer team can do it!
A season ticket is apparently $40 (not sure how many games maybe 5-7 a year?) http://highschoolsportsblog.dallasn...ball-season-ticket-total-capped-at-7500.html/
The challenge of course is location of a stadium, and the availability of the desired/needed land. Building a facility in Allen, TX (for a H.S. football team at on public school land) might be a task of a different scope when compared to what MLS (and MLS teams as private businesses) are trying to do in places like SJ, DC, NY and Boston. Now that SJ has their spot, it will indeed be interesting to see if their new venue compares favorably, or not, to what was built for Allen H.S. and their football program.
Very true of course, wasn't commenting on that at all, was just trying to answer the question about how much a ticket was.
exactly, the concern shouldn't be how it 'looks' you should be happy that one more team is getting a SSS underpinning the financial viability of the whole league. I'm sure DCU fans wouldn't mind a cheap looking SSS being built right now instead of 'looking forward' to another season in a decrepit 52 year old RFK.
The Dynamo stadium is steel girded as was Kansas City's stadium. They look and work fine. Not sure what the issue here is.
