One of the keys to our community is our moderators. They work hard to provide a fun and safe environment for everyone on the site. Of course, we realize things don't always go smoothly and that when some people have praise others have complaints. We are instituting a new procedure for reviewing our moderators, and that involves soliciting feedback from you. This is a serious excercise and we ask you to only participate if you take it seriously. We are asking you to post your praise and criticism, and suggestions, regarding the moderation of THIS PARTICULAR FORUM in this thread. Personal attacks will be binned (the mods have our approval to do this) and we are only looking for thoughtful criticisms or compliments. The moderation in here has been just fine - I can't remember an incident of any kind, so if there was anything ugly, the moderator must have cleaned it up before I read it. A good moderator is a bit like a good defender - you don't notice them.
Do the moderators do anything here? I remember posts where a certain poster threatened to "punch me in the throat", and nothing was said or done? I thought threats of physical violence weren't tolerated.
Oh Krammerhead you don't really think we'd punch you in the throat do you? There might be a couple of "hi ya pal" slugs to the shoulder region, and a couple of "noogies" given to that balding area underneath your Gilligan hat, but never a punch to the neck! Drinking your weak Canadian beer and stomping on your steel toed tennis shoes are things we can only dream of doing. You know you love us....you big lug!
Geez, I've only worn that gilligans hat once in my life! And since then I've been able to buy regular footwear, that has no steel toes. As for Canadian beer, I don't drink it (prefer Czech or English beer), so I'm certainly not one to promote it, nor be bothered when it gets slagged. (Which is why I don't wear that hat-It's got an ad on for Molson Canadian). And nope I don't have a bald spot. I'm not worried about being punched in the throat, I can handle myself, but it's more the principal of the matter. This site claims not to allow threats, but does.
Report the offense to a moderator, I never once received a private message about it Kramerhead, or else I would have edited that post. I agree, that shouldn't be tolerated, as throat punching is rather sissified. I'd prefer to smack you on the head with a trout
Twice I reported it to a moderator by (because twice violence was threatened against me by the same person) and not once did I receive a reply.
Krammerhead - I don't remember getting any kind of report. I take these very seriously and do look into any and all reports. I don't know what might have happened, but I do know that Sweeper and I both take our positions seriously and will not tolerate such threats. My apologies for letting this one get by. Lisa
Krammer, often times our pm boxes are full and we don't get the messages. I also mod the MLS Rivalry board and that alone fills up my box regularly! Sorry about what happened, try e-mailing as well. I agree that what was said should have been edited at the least.
Hey, no problem. Like I said, it was more a matter of pricipal. That guy threatening to punch me in the neck was one Richter Boy from Portland, and he really doesn't scare me too much. I was more annoyed that the threats came in threads that I had not yet made a post in! If you are going to threaten someone at least the person should have the balls to post it in a thread where I have been active.
