The only one of the big trailers released this week which garnered some genuine excitement from me. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sftuxbvGwiU"]Prometheus - Official Trailer [TRUE HD] - YouTube[/ame] Does this have a genuine chance at being *gasp* good?
One of the best trailers I've ever seen. But Scott's body of work over the last 25 years does not instill me with confidence.
The new 2 1/2 minute trailer for Prometheus. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHcHYisZFLU"]Prometheus - Official Full HD Trailer (amctheatres) - YouTube[/ame]
The extended UK trailer for Prometheus. It doesn't have so much of the quick edits and contains different footage. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9jRaa4Wkbk"]Prometheus - International Trailer (UK) - YouTube[/ame]
Ridley Scott On 'Prometheus', Talks Space Jockey and Ratings - Empire What is this bullshit about Prometheus being rated anything less than an R? Is Walt Disney making this? I remember there was a controversy when the first Alien vs. Predator movie was released with a PG-13 rating. Had to wait until the director's cut DVD to get the real deal with that one. Will Hollywood please grow up! By the way, here's a website devoted to all things Alien/Predator: AvP Galaxy
I dunno, these things go in cycles. I remember a lot of movies tarted up with a single pair of tits just to get an R rating. Moviemakers have to decide who their target demographic is and then make sure those guys get into the movie....

Forgive me for being really stupid here, but this is a sort of prequel to Alien? Now I have not seen any of the alien films, but what I do know is that the first one is basically a haunted house film in space. I also remember the one scene I have seen is when they land on the spaceship, and they discover the huge skeleton of some alien. Now, is this Prometheus film more about who those big alien guys were, why they were in that space ship, with some mysterious cargo etc. rather than the aliens that were the basis of the subsequent films? And is it set before Sigorney Weaver et al start shooting up the acid spitting b__tards? I could watch the trailers, but that would eat up a lot of my broadband allowance.
You don't need to know anything about the existing Alien franchise to see this movie. Some of it is supposed to setup what happens in those movies, but this isn't strictly a prequel. That being said, you don't have to see "Alien" to enjoy "Aliens".
If this thing tanks at the box office, it won't be becaue of the promo department. That's a terrific poster.
Like you lot, I plan on it. Mind you I'd plan on it just because of Charlie Theron, definitely a plus. Idris Elba is an actor I respect as well. Kingdom of Heaven was on TV tonight, I'd seen it though, another of his I liked.
Here it opened last Friday, not every day an American film premieres in Europe first. Looking forward to people here seeing it so I can complain. I was incredibly disappointed and let down by this film. Shame it was the one film I was looking forward to this year.
Hmmm, I was a little afraid of the build up for this. I guess I won't rush out to see it but I prolly will catch it at some time.
