So it turns out that while Women's Professional Soccer is on, er... hiatus, the Boston Breakers have found a berth in an improvised semipro league, and are playing their home games at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville. First home game is May 18th at 7:00. Just focus on the mantra "Somerville... professional... soccer" and you'll be fine.
The "take what you can get" heading is a very good lead in to this. I will follow your advice and appreciate it for what it is.
