We have a terrible record at Wigan, not least being hammered last year. No idea if Cabaye will be back, and as another aside, how impressive has Marveaux been recently? He's having to fill HBA's boots and is actually doing a very good job of it. Howay the lads.
Haidara being stretchered. If your name's McManaman, you can ******** straight off when it comes to NUFC, IMO.
that was definitely at least a yellow. ball was on teh ground McManaman went high. I guess according to Halsey, the ref, its now OK to go studs up on someone in this game...
Looks like Jonas to LB where Haidara was. Santon moved to right when Debuchy came out. Perch in middle with Tiote.
A tale of three halves, really. First bit was NUFC in the ascendency. Possession, runs, fluidity. Then an ill-timed offside run and shot into the net by Debuchy led to his pulled hammy and the substitution. Then Wigan took over. Capitalizing on the entry of Haidara and the switch of Santon from left to right they were able to get a good cross off and score with an essentially unmarked header. With the challenge by that twat it was more of the same for about 10-15 minutes until we found our footing. The last 10 minutes or so Newcastle looked as they did in the first ten, with possession and some dangerous runs into the box. Hopefully we can get it sorted in the second half. Someone between Jonas, Tiote and Perch needs to get the ball to Marvaeux. Jonas looked dire passing forward Thursday. Tiote and Perch really don't have that skill in their game. I'll take it if we get a goal somehow then bunker.
Carver and Barrow sent to the stands at the half. I'm fine if the ref just puts the two of them in the center circle, winner takes the three points.
Carver would take him... Perch in the book for a challenge that was same as except not as bad as McManananan's on Haidara...
Weak sauce: McManaman starts the second, but is subbed out after 5 minutes, clearly "emotional" and unable to continue. Bullshit. They're just trying to avoid a suspension.
Evidently we went to three at the back and pushed up Santon into the midfield on the right. I kinda don't think the defender knew which foot he was going to shoot with.
