v Location and Time Crew Stadium EDIT: Wednesday, August 22nd (game postponed) 7:30 PM ET Audio and Video 610 WTVN FOX Sports Ohio HD Weather 77 degrees & 20% chance of thunderstorms. Outlook A tough week for the Crew with distractions galore. This could be the make or break match of the season, if the side is dedicated we could see a focused group playing for something bigger than themselves. Or we could see a team still distraught that could effect the remainder of the matches. I couldn't fault them for either. I hope to see black armbands and/or 15s on all jerseys the rest of the season. That said, I think we'll see some of the same lineup as we've been having success with over the last few matches with Hugauin making a late appearance. It's too bad Real aren't still in the states for a visit. WIWTS Higuain and silent TFC fans when the stadium has a moment of silence and/or if the Nordecke does something in the 15th minute.
One-nil to Columbus Crew! Tw0-nil to Columbus Crew! Won't stop...till the game is through! Five-nil to Columbus Crew!
This is going to be an emotional night anyway. If this game ends with a late winner for Columbus, it could go down as one of the all-time most memorable/emotional moments in, not just Crew, but league history.
I currently see about 22 tickets for the ENTIRE south end available at ticketmaster. There is nothing available in 113-116. Is TFC bringing a lot of fans, or is this normal, given that it's where the visiting fans sit and they don't want tickets in those seats available online?
I am very happy to see that the TFC thread for this match is calling for the TFC fans to show respect for what the Crew are going through. https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/...fc-at-columbus-crew-august-11-2012-r.1970849/
I will count this as a win if we shoot more than 2 times inside the 18. I will award points for trying. FFS! Shoot the ball.
Unfortunately, it looks like this is one of the matches that the Crew FO did not put a lot of extra effort into selling. (Perhaps they didn't sell a lot of group youth tickets to this game, or maybe they didn't want to try to promote this too heavily at the expense of the Galaxy game a few days later.) Judging by what's available on ticketmaster, this may be the smallest crowd of the past few months.
I don't know what it is, nor do I have any facts, but I always feel like that first game after the Ohio State Fair is always a dud.
That's odd. My daughter and the majority of her HS team signed-up to run in the 5K earlier in the day. Their package included a t-shirt and a ticket to the game. I would've hoped attendence would be up tonight.
Maybe attendance will be decent, you never know. The available tickets on ticketmaster only tell part of the story, and its impossible to tell how many of the other sections will be filled by people running the 5K, or some boy scout groups, or whatever. That said, the available tickets on ticketmaster appear to be better than what was available for the past 4-5 games, at a similar time before the game. If the weather is good over the next 72 hours, perhaps we'll see a last minute surge.
Well, forecast is still like 75 with a chance of Tstorms, that sounds pretty good to me, better than 94 with sweltering sun...
I am helping with a United Way event so I can't make it. I am having a hard time dealing with the fact that I won't be there to be a part of the tribute to #15. I cant even place words on how I would love to attend. I am deelpy sadden that I cant but am so thankful of the plans to honor him. Crew win 2-0
http://www.thecrew.com/news/2012/08/team-plans-make-ursos-funeral In other news, be prepared for a potential delay of kickoff. The team is considering a charter flight to Chicago to attend Urso's funeral. ---------------------- UPDATE: Game Postponed: http://www.thecrew.com/news/2012/08/crew-vs-toronto-fc-match-rescheduled-august-22
Pretty much. Logistically it just wouldn't do the players mental good to rush to Chicago then rush to play. Plus a game is last on their minds at this time. I empathize and would advise those complaining to put themselves in the player's boots.
Columbus Crew @ColumbusCrew MLS Reschedules #Crew96-@TorontoFC Match to Aug. 22. Stay tuned to http://TheCrew.com for ticket exchange information.
This is the right decision. They need to be in Illinois on Saturday, and have the proper time to focus on goodbyes and getting some closure. A game is just that, and can be rescheduled, but a moment like this can not.
At the risk of being a totally insensitive jerk, I have to say that this is bullshit. It's a ********ing Wednesday night. I have plans most Wednesdays, plans I can't break because I've made a commitment to my community. So, this is two consecutive matches I've paid for that I will be unable to attend. Does anyone want the remainder of my season tickets? All reasonable offers will be considered.
You have got to be kidding me. So sorry that a young man's death proved to be such an inconvenience for you, you have my utmost sympathy.
