My (not piojo's) starting line up right now.
    Ochoa
    Layún - Reyes - Rafa - Moreno - Guardado

    Marco - ??? - Gullit

    Gio - Hermoso

    Subs
    1. Chich - Peralta
2a. Herrera - Gio (defensive - Marco moves up)
2b. Brizuela - Guardado (offensive. Speed to break down opp with Gio, Chich)

All I know is that I do not have the sense of dread going into the World Cup like I did for the Confed cup. I am excited for this team.

I dont get why you underestimate Herrera. He is getting more constant minutes at Porto, is playing very well (has been voted best player of the game in 2 consecutive games) and, most importantly, he is absolutely perfect as the second attacking midfielder in Piojo´s formation. Besides Moreno and Gio, I think he is the third european player with the best possibility to start against Cameroon.

If anything, Marco would be first in line to sub Gio if need be or, like you said, to fill in at CM if we need more attack.

I am exited that since this will be a FIFA friendly we will get a solid semblance of what to expect for the World Cup.

    Layún - Reyes - Rafa - Moreno - Guardado
    -----------------Herrera---------
    Brizuela----------------------Gullit
    Oribe------------Gio

Hmm, Guardado got called up? This means that Piojo has considered him as a LWB or LCM (which is 100% correct).

In turn, Layun moves to RWB? I thought Layun's best position is actually LWB? What if Guardado takes one of the three midfield positions and Layun keeps his RWB position? Would that be better?

I like that, but the only thing is that Piojo likes to have a creative player (ala Sambueza, Vela, Marco) under the two strikers. I hope, and really hope that He can play Gullit and Herrera together, even if they need a DM. Maybe Gio add some creativity that Piojo likes.

Piojo loves Aguilar at RWB, I doubt he gets benched tbh. At this point Guardado will be competing with Layun for LWB or playing that Sambueza LW role, moving Gullit centrally or backing up Gullit all together.

Is Aguilar the best RB that Mexico has?

What ever happened to Jerry Flores? After the Confeds, he disappeared from the NT. How's he doing at Cruz Azul?

    Yeah, you are right.

He partially tore his PCL back in July. He was out since then.

He recently played 2 games last month but hasn't played since (1-11-14 against Santos).

    Guardado? No thanks.

Layun is at his best in that position and not nearly as good in th rwb spot...and piojo knows it. Honestly as much as I dont see the hype still @Otaku <_<...I prefer Aquino to aguilar right now and leave layun on the left. Aguilar is a WC run ending red card waiting to happen.

    Chicharito
    Jimenez

Despite Ochoa's great performance, I still think our starting keeper should and will be between Corona and Talavera. Our backline of 3 should be Marquez, Moreno and Reyes. That's pretty undisputable in my eyes. Maza will get burned by players like Neymar or Eto'o. If knowing Piojo's system wasn't a factor, I would say Ayala would be the only capable one of beating out Reyes for that final spot.

The wing backs will be Aguilar and Layun. And even though he didn't play there vs Nigeria, I think Herrera is the best fit for Dmid. If not him, then Medina. But I would like the see the duo of Herrera and Gullit in the middle. Leave Gio como enganche and that way we can have a way to have Oribe and Chicharito on the field at the same time. It would also be fairly easy to convert back to Piojo's regular system of 2 volantes by pushing out Gullit and opening Gio out wide left.

Even though I don't think he'll use it, but this is what I would like, of course, given that the players can regain some form like Reyes and Guardado.

    --------------------Ochoa--------------------------------
    ---------Reyes---Marquez---Moreno--------------------
    Layun------------------------------------Guardado-----
    ---------------Herrera----Peña---------------------------
    ---------------------Brizuela------------------------------
    -------------dos Santos------Peralta-------------------

I don't think Muñoz is going to make it

    GK: Ochoa, Corona, Talavera
RWB: Paul, (possibly Chavez, but Aquino could fill in, in the later stages of the game, or layun)
    CB: Reyes,Moreno, Maza, Marquez, Perez
    LWB: Guardado, Layun
Mids: Gullit, Herrera, Aquino, Brizuela, Montes, Gallito, Fabian
    Forwards: Peralta, Gio, Chicharito, Pulido
