    brahma. apparently they switched logins.

btw, count me in as to those who are looking forward more to the S.A. Scorpions than the Galaxy.

Let's have Galveston Pirate FC in for the Charities Cup instead of a La Liga squad!!!

I'd be ok with that as a former student plays for them.

I would have loved to go, I was one of the first members of the Crocketteers and my kids used to play soccer at the Morgan Wonderland last year.
But I'm so busy right now that I was dissapointed when I realized that I don't work on Monday (one day less to get s.... done)

BTW, is this game on a stream somewhere? On the 790 postgame show it sounded like they were trying to get a radio broadcast or webcast going for Tuesday. I know a few years back the USOC games would be on the internet depending upon the team.

I also remember that. Our game against the USL Sounders was on the internet.

I recall watching a portion of a game vs. Charleston online. And who could possibly forget the webcast in 2009 of the USOC semi vs. Seattle with Nate Jaqua Bloody Zombie running around with a bandage wrap on his head.

I remember watching both those games too. The Battery game was frustrating cause the stream wasn't very good. The Seattle game was infuriating because of the Seattle announcers.

But a common theme on all of the above streams was that they were provided by the home team and never by the Dynamo. The players are probably busing it to San Antonio, how difficult is it to send a Marketing intern and a FO peep to provide the stream? A week has passed since the opponent was known, why wait until the last minute? You had a captive audience of 18,000ish at the stadium on Saturday. You could of hyped the stream or radio broadcast over the PA, with a simple graphic on the Dynamotron and/or with postcards at the gate. All very simple items to edumacate the audience on the USOC.

And Osvaldo Alonso was lighting us up like a Christmas tree in that Charleston game. And a few of us on these boards said something to the effect of "That guy would be a good MLS player, we should make a run at him." I don't know whether the Dynamo tried and failed, or weren't interested, but man has he turned out great for Seattle.

I would think that the home team would own the rights to the feed or video stream, and may not want to allow it under the theory it would depress attendance. Radio I would think would be allowed. There is probably some USSF regulation covering this for the USOC as to who has the rights.

I do hear you that the team could have just said they were doing a webcast-only radio broadcast and streamed it on the site. Even if 790 didn't want to carry it, bandwidth for that is cheap, I'm sure they have a hook up at the HS stadium San Antonio uses and the cost is just the travel cost for Matt Pederson.

fair enough, but the counterargument is that there has never been an effort on our FO's part concerning the USOC. we've hosted the Carolina Dynamo, FC Miami, FCD at a sold out Carl Lewis and SKC in College Station. forget about the feed, they've never made an effort to sell tickets or market the tournament.

Both NASL and USL have live streaming services for their regular games, there most likely is something that governs that for USOC as well. A few live streams are already in place for tomorrow, will see if one is ready in time for this game. Of course people could just make the trip and bitch about someone else's Stadium for a bit ;)

errr....You won't win me over on that argument. I love the USOC but it makes little financial sense to bid for an early game. Marketing that game? That's throwing good money after bad. Wih our owners that isn't likely often. Sure if they knew they could get 20k with little cost. In some cities it works, not here....too many casual fans.

If I get an offer to buy me a beer or two at a future Dynamo game (ShockTop please) I'd provide updates every five minutes over twitter. You'd have to follow Donjuego.

nope, you got the wrong guy. i completely understand the position of the USOC tournament.

all i'm asking is for the FO not to do it half-ass and last minute then say "oh looksy, it failed". this tournament is not worth it.

since bigsoccer doesn't pay me to post i have to have a real job. at this job i've seen my marketing budget decrease every year since for the past 12 years. hasn't stopped me from selling. sht, i'm doing better than i did in 2000. all i had to do was get creative with the $ and resources that i do have.

all i asked for was a couple minutes worth on the Dynamotron, 3 to 4 color postcards, an intern, the guy they pay an annual salary to broadcast over the radio, a press release to the English & Spanish radio/tv news shows, a story on their weekly news e-mail we all get, a twitter alert, a facebook post and a link on their website. if they can't do that under $1,000 then they need some serious help.
