5 minutes of good possession leads to a great chance for Sene, post. But that was 5 minutes where New York didn't touch the ball
Half time down one zero. As bad a we looked for the first thirty minutes, we still hit the post and NYRB got away with a red card offense and a hand ball in the box. This is still very winnable.
Tons of bad giveaways led by Tierney an Sene. Neither on can pass to save their lives. Nguyen having what I think is worse game as a Revs and Rowe is nonexistant. The Henry goal the the Richards play are prime examples why McCarthy is not ready to start at CB.
Rowe and Nguyen are too wide. Heaps needs to get his tactics sorted out. If you're going to play a 4-4-2 diamond, you can't play with wingers. Its a narrow formation. If he wants to play with wingers, play a 4-2-2-2, 4-2-3-1, or 4-3-3
Watching this game is making me sleepy-eyed. Heaps wasn't happy at all at half; interesting to see what changes he'll make. Revs looked like they had no clue what to do with the ball when they had it. I agree with someone who stated above that Shalrie and Simms in the midfield is redundant. I want McCarthy out, replaced by Lozano or Shalrie. I expect Feilhaber in the second half.
Benny looks like shit. Lee is begging for fouls and shooting from the outside. Saer is getting too fancy with the ball and not playing it in time. Moreno wasn't doing anything on his own behalf. Shalrie doesn't have the speed anymore. We have absolutely nothing going on in the final third.
they build up and then it looks like everyone is just stopping and watching. No movement off the ball and the final ball is terrible
BRING ON FERNANDO. I swear, a Cardenas/Moreno starting strike pair would be murder. You can mark Moreno's height, or you can mark Cardenas' speed. You can't do both.
3 pts for the taking the they can't capitalize. Pretty poor by the Revs today. After this game, if Heaps still thinks this is the best team he has ever been around then he is on crack, speed, LSD and snorts flintstones chewables
I don't think we suck. The coach just isn't putting the best players out on the field. And a 4-4-2 diamond? What a terrible formation. There's a reason it's been largely abandoned over the last decade. It's lazy and ineffective. Wake up heaps! Play a real formation.
Just watched first 12 1/2 minutes, and I have already seen enough to see what a mistake this is. It's called Shalrie and he has no business in midfield. Taking away anything possibly good that the #revs could do. I even decided to make notes of how bad. 3' Does not move into space on ball and is turned over. 4' TH zips past him on sideline 5' Shalrie not doing much but jogging around. Both teams playing around him easily. 6' Shalrie easily dispossessed by Lindpere. halrie throws himself to the ground looking for foul ~7 McCarthy beaten by TH, and this is where Shalrie should have been playing. ~9 ball hits Shalrie in back clumsily. Shalrie already just plodding along looks tired 10' Lindpere passes right by him on sideline ~11 Shalrie does not even jump with NYRB defender on cross in our box. 12:30' Revs break. Shalrie is not even in their offensive 1/2. Probably still near our pen box. Can't run. Heaps is an Amateur for playing Shalrie in midfield. I have said for a long time that he is too slow for MLS other than CB, and Heaps does this full time. He probably is a rookie coach, former player, best friend to his players, but does not know what it means to be a manager. Just a coach. Maybe I will eat my words, but I doubt it.
This one's on Heaps. Wrong lineup and formation. Benny sitting in place of Rowe or Nguyen? Really Jay? McCarthy in defense again? I don't want to rag on him. He's done reasonably well as a converted cb, but he's cost a goal the last two games. It's time to find out if Lozano can help us, or put Shalrie back there. It's a shame. He had them pinned in their half most of the second half, but couldn't convert.
Hmmm--I seem to remember a quote about not being outworked...and today, we were badly outworked. First 30 minutes--abysmal. Reminded me of the first half of the opener at San Jose, but back then we had an excuse. Sene--great feet, lousy passer. He must've given the ball away 20+ times. The second Thierry Henry left the field, we became by far the better team ON PAPER and yet couldn't do a thing about it. A lot of individuals noodling on the ball and zero teamwork in the attack. The Shalrie-to-Benny play was it. Nothing else gave any indication that those players had even practiced together.
The few touches that Shalrie has made through 23' is not worth the vacuum he is. He is too slow; simple. He would be great on a pitch 1/10 the size.
