This makes me remember the lead-up to 2010 when Robbie Findley was called up for WC action and people had a conniption fit. I'll gladly argue merits with the 1-18 spots, but are the 19-23 spots worth the energy? When you're comparing a Brek Shea with random spurts of 6 minute brilliance vs someone unproven, young and a potential phenom - whichever. I know which I'd prefer, but not a big concern.
Parkhurst called up for USMNT game against Mexico on April 2. http://www.mlssoccer.com/worldcup/2...-players-usmnt-roster-april-2-match-vs-mexico EDIT: With Crew games on March 29 and April 5, I wonder if he'll miss the any time for us. Although, that might mean Bradley, Evans, and Yedlin won't be on the field for those games, either.
Michael Parkhurst has been called up for #USMNT match vs. Mexico. Told me today it won't affect his status with the Crew. #crew96— Adam Jardy (@AdamJardy) March 26, 2014 Whatever that means.
It looked to me that he was not 100% against Philly. If he's still carrying the calf strain, I would rest him against Seattle. He really needs to perform well in USMNT camp. He has a very good chance of making the WC roster if he shows well in camp and against Mexico.
I think it means he'll start v Seattle and TFC, but he'll definitely be a sub option around the 65th minute so as not to Robert Warzycha him into the ground
You don't start a center back with the idea that you'll need to sub him out. He either starts and goes 90 barring injury or card, or he sits. It is up to Gregg (Extra G is for Glory!) to decide what is best for the team and player. Similarly to how he indicated it was possible Parkhurst would play wide for us but hasn't to this point, Gregg isn't going to be swayed by what the national team needs. It is his job to get the best Crew 11 on the field in a way they can be successful. If Parkhurst is healthy, he'll start vs Seattle and TFC at centerback.
In really important news the 2014 Panini World Cup Sticker Album is gonna be available in the next week. got, got, got, got, not got, got, not got, got, got, got, got, got, got.
Obviously I am buying this for the young 'un - Way too old for that sort of thing....He will just need close supervision.
Nike can take their stupid jerseys and shove them up their arse. 90 quid? - That is about $150. Prats. http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2014/mar/31/england-world-cup-shirt-two-prices
There is a "stadium" version for 60 UKP but you would be missing out on all the nike technology essential to wearing while watching england play down the pub. Also I read on twitter that the existing jersey was only used for 9 games and about 9 months?
Klinsman hires Berti Vogts as special assistant through the World Cup. Martin Vasquez reassigned to other duties. Funny part is that Vogts will remain as coach of Azerbaijan. http://www.socceramerica.com/article/57162/klinsmann-hires-vogts-adds-ramos-reassigns-vasqu.html
Bought my tickets for USA - Turkey in Jersey today. They weren't cheap though, roughly $65 each compared to roughly $40 for the other WC warm ups. Just wondering if anyone is going to going to this one or any of the other warm up matches?
Crimean to be exact. Blue white red horizontal stripes are the official flag of Crimea...which is now Russian ..kind of
It's very nice and selfless of Nike to make US uniform decisions designed to keep my money in my wallet. Thanks, Nike! You guys are the best.
Not a fan of the tops by itself but I think it looks ok with the red shorts. A useless part of the jersey is that is says, "One Nation, One Team", in the lettering of the players name, but you can only see it under UV lighting.
