The only people who should be on the preliminary 30 for the game against Honduras are Besler, Gonzalez, and Gatt
Altidore's US appearances are worth noting now that he is scoring in Nederland? I seem to remember him shooting wide and falling over a bit.
Those games were not fun to watch either though. Cameron definitely needed a few more opporutnities to assure himself. Zusi is still up for debate considering his fruitless West Ham trial and lack of influence tonight. Losing Donovan could be worse than I thought Berks, .
Seems to me that JK has problems selecting a starting lineup/tactics. He always ends up making decent/good subs but his initial choices seem to be suspect.
I think they're more proud of the fact they got a result while fielding players who don't even have club teams or have never played a professional game. Yes, they played defensively, but opening the game up was never an option against a team of pros. The objective was to see if these kids can get some pro trials, not to build some type of offensive system tonight, Canada is already out for 2014 anyway. Leave the offensive gameplans up to the u17 and u20 teams that actually have talent on par with the U.S.
Davis created some of the only chances of the match and people are beating up on him. lol The first half was at least watchable.
I think if a dog actually crapped on the field it would have provided better entertainment than this match
Gatt at least tried going at the Canadians with speed, and succeeded a few times. I'd like to see him in his natural right side rather than the left. Gonzalez and Besler played well but were never really tested. Other than that, just ugh. MLS really needs to improve their development. With the USL-MLS merger for reserves, we might start seeing some fruit in a couple of years.
Tony Beltran? Beat by Canada couldn't cross to save his life Beltran? (Actually, he did have that 1 laser in, I'll give him that one - the one that Wondo missed). Liked EJ for bits, exactly as you said. Gatt is nowhere in the vicinity of LD. He has his runs/speed, but not much else right now. I still have yet to be convinced by him. And before everyone jumps all over me like in the game thread, YES, he was a spark. I expect more from him due to the hype that he's "like LD." So far, don't see it. Hope he proves me wrong, cause we badly need him. Oh, and Sean Johnson had a good save. That's about all he had to do.
I need to learn to not watch the January friendly. Every year I tell myself that it will be worth it and IT NEVER IS. Just 90 mins of terrible play every damn year. Agudelo, Gatt, Feilhaber, Omar, Besler, and Beckerman stood out to me as being slightly above the rest.
Canada was truly awful. Your only decent player was that Henry kid from TFC. The rest were NASL quality. The fact that it wasn't 3 or 4 to 0 showed how bad the US was.
Listen, I like Beckerman, but when hes your shining light for your entire squad, for a NT squad, that is reason for concern. Not lose your mind levels... but concerned. Gatt was the only other one that really had me raising an eyebrow a couple times. Great charges, he just didn't do anything with it.
Got stripped a few times, made some bad decisions, and basically looked lost. (Minus that one great cross).
