Awesome, good strategy. Heh So, back on topic. I have only been to Portland a couple times and really have no personal connection to the city. But the Timbers marketing team have really done a spectacular job; I'm very excited to see them finally step out onto a MLS pitch. I hope they don't play LA in the first match... I'd hate to have to start the season rooting against them. I doubt that will happen, though. They'll likely start the season by opening up the Cascadia Cup. And as far as I'm concerned, whenever any of those three teams face another we should expect to see on-the-edge-of-fire-code attendances and superb atmospheres with supporter clubs vying to be the loudest in the house (assuming each teams supporters travel well.) Ugh, I don't know how I'm going to make it through these next three months...
There's a greater chance we'll open the stadium against LA than Seattle or Vancouver. We know we're going to get a lot of attention for the launch and our rivalry games. No sense wasting 2 spectacles in one day.
Oh, I totally get why the first game won't be at home. I just don't like it. Although I guess it's a small price to pay for an awesome refurbished and MLS-approved stadium. (I have season tickets.)
I concur. Although when I set up my in-laws light up reindeer like that, my wife got pissed. The best part is the way the heads move on some of those...
The Portland Timbers have broken the record for the most jerseys sold in the first week of any MLS kit unvailing. Yes, even Seattle.
So glad I've got season tickets. It's going to be near impossible to find tickets once things get going. MLS has no idea what's coming.
That's what happens when you launch an intelligent, unique, and gorgeous jersey. Portland was smart enough to make two stellar shirts. It will be hard for another MLS team to top these shirts - ever. KC's & Vancouver's new shirts are ok. But Houston is going to wear an 80s train wreck this year.
That's fantastic. I have to say I'm ridiculously impressed with the marketing of this team - Timbers ads are all over the freakin' place.
Yeah no kidding. Everywhere, all over TV, the radio, billboards, covering the front of the newspaper. It's unreal.
With 20 something of those billboards total (read somewhere) I am so excited to see the rest. Can't wait to see everything they have in store. I agree Portland Timbers Front Office is getting right so far, granted I didn't hate the new logo... But I think this front office has a good pulse of what Portland is looking for. Then again ti's easy when you have an established fan base to work from.
Wow, that Timber's Army section is huge! I don't think I have ever seen that high a proportion of seats in an MLS stadium devoted to a supporters' section.
Jeez where are the non-season ticket holders going to sit? The Timbers Army section is enormous and I love to see that. But is assigned seating the norm for supporter sections? Only been to the Home Depot Center, where it's GA
As has been pointed out, everything designated Timbers Army on that map is GA, that is also why none of the yellow sections show as sold out since a ticket for those 16 sections is good anywhere in there. The sections next to it are basically Timbers Army since a very high proportion of people who bought those are USL GA ticket holders who are on TA mailing lists. We see those as the assigned seating of the Timbers Army section. One thing is for sure, the North End will be rocking next year. Edit: My apologies for posting the graphic in the wrong thread, had both open and put it in the wrong one.
I hope they label this on the tickets. I'm dreading having a couple of yuppies complain to be because I'm "in their seats".
There shouldn't be any sections, rows, or seat numbers on the TA tickets. It will just say Timbers Army.
I may have missed comments about it, but I'm pretty certain that the logo on the Rose City kit was red instead of green. Found it an even more interesting thing to do than having a second kit that goes completely away from any second colors on the logo. And I haven't seen it posted anywhere.
