Split colors!!!!!!!! Yes! Finally! It is subtle, but it is there. Such a great soccer look that I cannot believe nobody in MLS has done it yet. The special touches (chevrons and thorns) just make the pattern that much more awesome.
These might be the best MLS jerseys EVER. Doing the Rose City jersey is so goddamn brilliant that it defies words.
Thank you MLS for bringing in Portland. Thank you Adidas and Timbers for upping the bar set by Seattle and every other club that dared to do something different with colors and also chose to not have a white shirt.

Brilliant design with an European look, hands down the most creative MLS shirt in the league. Welcome to the MLS Portland!

Not sure why you quoted a random post with this, but it's not unheard of for players to have separate contracts for shoes with different companies.

These are great uniforms. The red one is my favorite I've seen. Surely it's gotta the sting out of the botched new logo, eh guys?

That was the second thing I said after having seen the shirts... after "wow, those are really great, holy shit!"

The "random post" had photos of the four Timbers players in the new uniforms. Three were wearing Nike shoes. I dont know if they have contract or not. I can understand wearing your preference of shoes on the field.

You have my favorite uniform other than the Timbers of course in the MLS, you just need a sponser...maybe an english Tea Company...

    Harrisons & Crosfield
    TETLEY TEA
    BOSTON HARBOR TEA

Is it possible that players with shoe deals are required to wear the shoes whenever they do some sort of event? (Obviously I'm talking about situations where they would wear dress clothes.)

Just wanted to say I really like the new kits, and the away jersey is amazing.

Your front office is really stepping out to promote in a classy way and I know you will love the renovated field.

Best of luck in 2011, as a former NASL fan who is now 52, I am thrilled to see the Cascadia members in MLS. Your rivalry with Vancouver and Seattle will be legendary, but I also think there will be strong rivalries with San Jose and the Galaxy.

Again, nice work and can't wait to see you guys on the pitch.

That change kit is the best I've seen in the history of MLS. Portland's primary green is classic, and I reckon that the stands at PGE will be a a forest of Timbers green, but I'm looking forward to seeing the rose and red when y'all invade Qwest.

So many comments were about it being classic, here's why I think they decided upon that description. [MS paint skillz]

I made this dirty mock-up of the color scheme and template. I hope Portland continues to keep the look of the two-tone green. As much as I love the Rose City Red direction, the alternate can change over the years.

Strip away the adidas and detailing, you've got a very basic and yet classic look. I like. Just need to get to a store because all I can see here in Salem is marked down OSU stuff and swaths of UO green. Nothing wrong, just Timbers stuff will be lost among the UO stuff if they ever decide to place any of it in Salem this holiday season. That to me would be a great sign of relevance for the Timbers.

They had a booth at Lloyd Center where you could get it customized on the spot for free. Fairly busy, about 4-5 people at any given time I passed it by.

Don't know why I'm surprised by this, but I am. Guess I've been drinking the Kool-Aid on those season ticket numbers.

You know it's not an alternate right? MLS teams can't have an alternate 3rd kit until their 2nd year in the league. The Rose City Reds are the away kit.

Alternate, secondary or away, semantics. According to the news release the Timbers primarily view it as a secondary jersey. When they play Toronto, Dallas, RSL, Chivas, Chicago at away games, they will not be wearing it.

I'm clearly aware of the 3rd kit issue.

the rose jersey is not necessarily the away jersey
if fact the green will be the away jersey when The Timbers play TFC and other red teams
