quite a good stretch for the last few weeks of the season... we are safe.. thats the main concern... now regroup for next season and get higher in the table.
So the season is over and Argyle lose at home 2-1 to Cheltenham. Argyle sat out the following players, Purse, Wotton, Walton and Chadwick for various reasons. Also Argyles goalie announced his retirement after nearly 12 years at Argyle, Romain Larrieu came on for the last 10 mins of the game before his retirement, he has been the assistant manager since Peter Reid was fired.

Usually they do play most of their exhibition games away from home, but most of those games are less than a 2 hour drive and a few less than 45 mins. It also gives the Home Park pitch more time to recover. After all the financial problems last year very little was done to look after the new pitch that went in 2 years ago. The company that put the new pitch in were never paid, but they did come back this summer and shaved off the top of the turf and reseeded and topdressed Looks good though
Well that was not a good start, Argyle lost to Yeovil 5-0 and had Chadwick sent off. Argyle took about 20 players for the game, the starting lineup had about 6 players who would be considered first team from last year plus a Spanish trialist, down 3-0 at HT and down to 10 men, 8 changes in 2nd half and final score 5-0. A second Argyle team made up of youngsters beat local team Callington 2-0.
Preseason game #2 tonight against Truro City. Truro from Cornwall play in a league about 3 leagues below Argyle. The Spanish trialist has been released but we have a Welsh fireman 32 years old trying out. Rhys Griffiths has led the Welsh league in scoring for the last 7 years http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18520098 Chadwick who was sent off last saturday will be suspended for tonights game.
Well Argyle won 1-0 and the goal was scored by the trialist Griffiths, next game friday against Weston Super mare
ARGYLE 3 Weston-super-Mare 1 scoring for Argyle Lennox, Soukouna and Feeney (pen) Argyle had another trialist tonight, yet he is a old trialist from last year Andres Gurrieri he impressed everyone last year when he was on trial, but unfortunately with the troubles that were ongoing last year,Argyle were not able to offer him a contract, he is from Argentina, he ended up playing for Burton Albion, but was released at the end of the season, he played tonight and sounds like he impressed again. Other news Rhys Griffiths who scored in the last pre-season game may be offered a contract, he is a fulltime fireman and has to sort out his priorities, he has gone back to his home club to think over his future. There has been many rumours around of players coming in or going but nothing concrete yet.

spill it.. this was saturday you heard rumors.... what did you hear?? on the field or off the field rumors?
It is a on the field rumour, i have heard nothing more since saturday, if it came to forth i would say Argyle would have the potential best front 2 in the league, from what i understand both players want to come, but each has a problem, which can be overcome. One of the players has been mentioned on these pages, the other has'nt. One has vast experience, international, played at the highest level, the other has not played in England, but has played against European teams. Other than that i cant say anything else.
Tiverton 1 Argyle 2 goals by Young and Purse in last minute to win the game. Bad news Jamie Lowry, one of Argyle's 3 new signings injured his ankle at the preseason game against Truro, scans have now shown he has ligament damage and will be out for at least 3 months. No new news on player movements.
Well we have one official signing and one unofficial signing, so 2 pieces of the 4 piece puzzle. Officially we have signed the Argentinian Andres Gurrieri, unofficially we have signed Rhyss Griffiths, by this i mean Gurrieri has been announced on the official Argyle site, Griffiths it has been announced on his previous club's site and a few other sites in Wales but not on Argyle's official site. No word yet on the other 2 pieces of the puzzle. After playing 3 local sides, big pre-season game tomorrow against Birmingham.
Argyle 0 Birmingham 5, a near Premiership team showed there class last saturday, it did'nt help that Argyle made 4 defensive errors and it resulted in 4 goals. Today Argyle signed 2 more pieces to the puzzle with the official announcement of the signing of Rhys Griffiths and the loan signing of Johnny Gorman a winger from Wolves, who has the unusual distinction of playing 9 times for his country Northern Ireland, but only playing 4 minutes for Wolves first team.
