I appreciate your caution. However, I count at least 10 posters on this thread who are either located in the Sacramento area or list San Jose Earthquakes as their club, indicating they have a regional interest. Each seem to post regularly. OTOH, I 'll certainly respect your judgement on this. I'm sure we can find more participants as this club begins to hire staff and try out players.
I mainly post in the Referee sections but I would post in the fans side for a Sacramento team forum. I just found out I may be able to see Chivas USA vs Colorado Rapids, in Las Vegas next month, while I am at the AYSO meetings. We are trying to get a block of seats for the game.
The only way I see a Sacramento Forum is by us posting more often about anything related to Sacramento and its team. As of now there is two threads (that I know of) covering the Sacramento team: this one and the one on the USL forums (https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/sacramento-is-in-usl-pro.1979114/page-4#post-27030661) Lets try to get all of us on the thread belong to the USL forums so the mod will see necesary creating a Sac Forum...see you there !
Not really sure if Sac gets one while we wait on the other subforums who already have 10 plus posters. DK, if you want, people are just going to go some where else.
I don't understand.. how can we tell if there are at least 10 posters if the forum doesn't open up to see how many post there? For what it's worth, I live in Sacramento and am a regular poster on Big Soccer and will most definitely be posting regularly in the Sacramento thread. I'll continue posting here and in this thread until then.
Quiet, The forum software has a different view of the forums that allows them to easily see how many different people use a sub forum. They need to know if one poster is clogging a thread and that several users frequent the group. They also confirm that each user is a different IP. I am confident we will get a forum before the team gets players. The local ownership group has been more active this week on twitter and Facebook. Unfortunately they have little soccer related. The trials and tribulations of the Sacramento Kings basketball team have taken over most of the media, along with the SF49ers.
The Super Mods want at least 10 regular, dedicated posters who are willing to post. That usually translates into locals. There more that show up on this thread, the faster we can create a new forum.
I said before that I'd post in a Sacramento USL Pro forum, but truth is when I wrote that above, I was sort of ambivalent about the need for a forum. Never mind active posters, I wasn't sure there was really much to discuss. Not yet, anyway. But I have changed my mind. I now believe a dedicated forum would be useful. There are several topics under discussion in the current dedicated thread. And there's interest in others. But it's all jumbled together and it just doesn't make for a good discussion system. For instance, I want to start discussing how we as future supporters might influence and help to shape the team's name and colors and overall identity. Indeed, I really think we need to do this now -- get our voices in early and strongly. But I don't want to discuss that in a thread that's also talking about a half dozen other matters. One thread is no longer enough; indeed one thread has, I believe, begun to stifle discussion. The only thing at this point that should be standing in the way of a new Sacramento USL Pro board is a moderator. I don't like unmoderated boards. If someone wants to step up to moderate this one, then I think the board should be created without delay. And, no, I'm not volunteering.
I know it may have seemed tongue in cheek but this is what I was talking about in voicing my support for a board. I understand that it might be a pain to create before there is an actual team with games to talk about. I understand that it might make it annoying if it doesn't get much use. That said there are important things to talk about before the team takes the field. I second the above post and feel the same way about an Indianapolis board.
Thank you DK ! For all of you out there this is the link to our own SACRAMENTO FORUM : https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/forums/sacramento.1551/ See you there !
