was wondering the same thing, can't recall him. and for the life of me i can't recall the gingers name between beltran and beckerman. also, i love how wingert is the only one that has an actual green jersey on, the rest are wearing the training top i think. man, those days seem sooo long ago.
oh god, how the hell did i forget kenny cutler. cordoba does make sense, i believe both their first names were matias. mantilla was brought in along with javi and espy. cordoba was loaned to us by argentinos juniors.
I don't remember it this way, but I find it interesting that the team used different jersey templates for the long sleeve and short sleeve "Earth Day" jerseys. I bought one of the short sleeve jerseys, and I assumed they were all that design. Interesting looking back at these pictures. That was a fun game.
That is none other than Matias Cordoba. He's back in Argentina now, not sure what he's doing, but I do know he and his girlfriend had a baby recently. Thanks for the refresher on Jay Ayres...after he healed from that orbital bone fracture he was loaned to the Charleston Battery but only played in one match before retiring.
Oh man, that snow game...I remember it came out of nowhere. I showed up to the tailgate in shorts and a t-shirt, and had to go change about an hour and a half before kickoff. The RCB wound up singing Christmas carols for about half the match. We took requests. Good times.
Not two different jersey templates, the long sleeve versions are the warm-up/training tops. The short sleeve is the actual jersey. Most the guys wore the training tops during the game because it was so cold/snowy. I remember there was a small SNAFU about it on here, something about it not being allowed technically because the training tops don't have a MLS logo patch on the shoulder like the jerseys are supposed to.
Well, we can safely say it probably doesn't benefit whoever is holding onto a big tifo when a strong gust comes up. Can you say one-way paraglider ride out of the stadium? Actually the wind probably benefits RSL most because it will make it more difficult for Seattle to play direct to EJ. Nobody benefits from windy games per se, but I think it tends to hurt less teams that like to play on the ground...like RSL.
I'm happy I'm able to make the game tonight. I love last minute shift trades. Sucks having to work for 2 hours of my shift though. You'd think it would be quick, but the time is dragging. I hope for a good showing tonight, and a ref that is consistent. Whether they're terrible or not, as long as they call things the same way on both ends, I can live with it.
By "playing on the ground", you mean passing it into the goal, right? Because that is what we've been trying to do of late. Not a lot of outside shooting, just passing it around in the box until someone says, "Fine! I'll shoot it!". But seriously, I'm hoping someone takes this game by the horns and starts firing shots. I don't care where they are shooting from, just test the keeper!
Especially with wind involved, shoot at the keeper. One small gust at the right time to knuckle the ball off course, could be all the difference in this game. I agree w/ Senor, I want to see people taking shots, even if they're from distance. I'd much rather the keeper get tested, and either get a few extra corners, or possible rebounds, than to see us just pass around looking for that 'perfect opportunity'. Wondo didn't hit 27 goals this year by waiting for the perfect shot. He just took them, and so should we.
Too soon to head to the RioT? Ready for this one. Looking forward to seeing how it all plays out, and hoping like everyone else that we take the shots. *Packing up confetti and streamers and blankets* See you there!
The RSL starting XI: Rimando, Beltran, Olave, Borchers, Wingert, Beckerman, Grabavoy, Johnson, Morales, Saborio, and Paulo JR.
