Which is also why we appreciate our football club far beyond normal. It´s a city where S04 is the only dream there is...
Thanks for thread Squid. And I purposely wrote "not in GErmany" because of Borussia. DF, what a beautiful pic, Minnesota looks like a place I could live. I love lakes, snow, cold winters, warm summers. Äppler, ist't Oaxaca the place where there are pretty big politicial tensions and he journalist got killed? Wow Alex, that's quite the effort from you there! Forever Red, is it ok if I come by for a visit for a year or two?
I hope this doesn't mean you're surprised . Anyway, some additions I couldn't get in in time yesterday: The Nußberg, mainly used for going sledging these days. Despite it's name it's more of a hill. Well, you can't really expect us to know what a mountain looks like here: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nussberg_(Braunschweig) Nazi ruins on the Nußberg, we used to play there as kids: http://procyon.ionichost.com/orte3.php That's what it looked like when the Nazis were still arround: http://www.vernetztes-gedaechtnis.de/nussberg.htm Other side of the hill, once hanging arround on this plattform is something I've in common with Hitler: http://www.vernetztes-gedaechtnis.de/franz.htm More pics from my high school: http://procyon.ionichost.com/orte14.php The ruins of the former stables of the mounted police corps, just down the street http://procyon.ionichost.com/orte9.php Ruins rock, so here's another one http://www.braunschweig.de/rat_verwaltung/verwaltung/fb67/gruenanlagen/BuerPor0.jpg Prinzenparkstadion (some club from Paris stole the name ), field of our neighbourhoods fifth division side FT Braunschweig (they suck this season , although still not on a relegation spot) and the most beautiful stadium in the city: http://www.ft-braunschweig.de/driveway.html
DF, they are all stunning. I love the pink reflections in the water in the first, the second is just magical and a wonderful composition and I can almost smell the nature and feel how relaxed you are in the third. What camera was used? I can't wait for good weather to really try out my Lumix. Photography is only half as fun when the sun never comes out. Well, here are some 100 pics of Hannover taken of Live Local. http://s248.photobucket.com/albums/gg190/BigSoccer96/ I'll just posting a few of them, if you're interested in the rest feel free to take a look at them. The huge construction side right next to the central station. This is going to be a mall. Don't like that. The finance center. Looks a bit different to FRankfurt, doesn't it? My favourite place to be on fridays in summer because then hundreds of bikers gather there. Yummy. Maybe one of the ugliest buildings in the whole of Germany, the infamous Ihme Zentrum. This monstrosity is so huge it doesn't even fit on one pic: uno due If you really want to shock someone tell him you actually live there. Not a good place to, especially at night. Right next to it they are building a new block of the ugliest row-houses ever. How do you call "Sozialbau" in English? Unbelievable stuff. Why? On the left you cann see the "Faust", an old factory that that is a cultural centre and dance club. In summer the sandy spot on the right is a beach club. It's a lovely area and you reach it if you walk through the university park. There's nothing better than the park are around the university in summer. Thousands of people having a barbecue, playing football, relaxing, playing guitar, drinking... Just awesome. more park even more Herrenhäuser Gardens:
Well, I can only speak for one of them...the first one, which I took with a standard Sony Cybershot 5.0. The other two were taken by father and step-brother. I am not sure what they were using . Sorry.
Stadium of Arminia Hannover The city-beach: Right next to the Lake Masch are a few wonderful lakes still very much in the city. The Eilenriedestadion which is where Zizzo plays. Interesting piece of architecture - the International Neuro Science Center in the form of the human brain Quite a big jewish cemetary sourrounded by buildings. A catholic church that kinds sticks out. This church was bombed in WWII and left like this Stevie Cherundolo lives in one of those houses. A very interesting new housing development. It actually looks really great in real life but judging from the cars I saw parked there it's quite expensive. Imo one of the best neighbourhoods from an architectural point of view - the List. More List Even more. I'd love to live there forver actually. If you're into strange architecture this one is for you - Nord LB.
Rowing school. Only a few minutes from 96's stadium: My apartment is on this pic: The three towers must be the worst student dorms in Germany. But the parties were awesome. Right next to it is the Herrenhäuser brewery and the smell was terrible most of the time. Area next to the university, 96% students. Volkswagen factory. Waldhausen, this is where most of the 96 players live. Zooquarter, most expensive area in Hannover. Schrdöer used to live here as well. The building on top is the university dining hall. Food is quite good imo. All these nice villas belong to fraternities. That's it for today.
I'm there relatively often, first of all because of a good friend of mine and secondly because I hang arround the university (more specifically, the university library as well as the Leibniz library), doing historian's stuff (ya know, going through newspaper archives etc., someone has to do it). I bet I've actually run into F96 without noticing it at least once . Anyway, the churches are indeed very nice. The Catholic church (St. Clemens) is a very nice 18th century church. My favorite church in Hannover is the Apostle's Church (in F96's "even more..." link), recommended for fans of 19th century architecture . I'm an atheist and all, but I looooooove churches, as one might guess...
I bet she doesn't wink as often in real life . Maybe I should get a Toni Kroos kit. Even if I miss her, she'd notice .
"Hannover is ugly" is one of the most traditional joke genres in Germany, actually. @people from Hannover: Sorry, it's not my fault, they are slightly exaggerating, but who am I to stop an entire nation?
Im not German but I was born in Wiesbaden, Germany and lived there for a few years so I have a soft spot for German culture/National Team. Currently I am trying to learn German and the following pics are from where I live/study at. The University of Georgia campus. American Football Stadium, Sanford Stadium, on Campus. Capacity 96000+
Those pictures sure are deceiving then. And if thats bad I can't imagine what the "grandiose" German cities look like.
