    Good luck with PT

In high school I wanted to go into PT (took a class at SLCC that changed my mind rather quickly) and it was made very clear that if we wanted to go into PT, the U was an incredibly long shot as they hardly let anyone in to the program.

    Best of luck

Oh, that's right, I forgot I was mad at you about the whole U of I crack. ;)

Trying times, waiting for admittance letters. Good luck!

Yeah, the U only accepts 40 students a year and is a top 10 program for PT. Its incredibly hard to get in, but i've done my "homework" so to speak, and think i've got a decent chance at getting in.
On a side note, one of my other top choices is New York Medical, which would allow me to attend NYRB vs RSL games out there ;)

I am currently in PT school at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Provo. PT school is really hard to get into nowadays. I applied to Utah in 2010 and 2011. I had interviews both years, got waitlisted once and denied once. 40 acceptances and over 500 applicants. Getting an interview (and even waitlisted is an accomplishment).

Heck, even RMUoHP (which is a new program... I am in the 2nd ever class) had 400 applicants and 44 accepted.

Good luck, FC Sky! Hope you make it!

I've already been accepted to Seattle U and have a scholarship offer to go along with it.

So... I might have to suffer through Seattle games (Seattle U is within spitting distance of the CLink)

Thanks Wrennywren! RMUoHP is on my list as well, seems like a pretty good school from people that i've talked to (I worked at a clinic in springville with one of the students at RMU) if you can deal with the schedule. My only problem would be that I DESPERATELY need to get out of Utah County (the south portion especially...ugh)

Nice, I almost went to Seattle U for undergrad, got accepted and a decent scholarship, but UP offered me a better scholarship. Right now I'm waiting to hear about interviews for a few PhD programs at the U (molecular biology) and a few other places, hoping to hear in the new couple weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed, really want to go to the U.

Best of luck to you. My wife is graduating from the U's PT program in May. If you interviewed last year, she may have been one of the people who interviewed you. They ask a couple of students to be on the interview panel each year, and she did it last year.

As a side note, make sure you calculate tuition increases into your loan calculations. Her tuition has increased by roughly $1k each year. Also, they want you to do a minimum of one internship outside of the state. So, you should add that in as well. The internships are unpaid, work you 40 hours a week, and cost you $3k-$5k in tuition, depending on how many you have that semester. They have a list of acceptable locations to choose from, and they assign you a number your first semester. One year they will choose internships starting with the lowest number, the next year it's reversed. You may get a great one one year, and the next you're stuck with slim pickings. My wife is currently in Phoenix for the next 4 months for internships, but I had to stay in SLC due to my job. Luckily she has a sister to stay with, but other classmates weren't so lucky. To top it off, we recently found out she's preggers. It's not going to be a very fun 4 months.

Your situation may not end up being the same, but those are some things to consider when estimating your overall costs for PT school. My wife will be at around $65k when finished. However, she had a classmate who was from out of state that had $50k in loans at the end of the first year! If you end up going out of state, there are some loopholes for tuition being considered a resident, like if you're required to move due to a job. Look for those as well, wherever you end up going.

Oh, last but not least, be the guy that stays up until midnight to be the first to register for classes. Your schedule is set for you, but lab times vary. My wife never remembered to stay up late for registration, and the good lab times were always good by morning. Having classes finished by noon and lab at 3 or 5 really sucks.

Sorry for staying off topic. Maybe this should've been a PM...

    Go Real!:D

SenordrummeR2 - Thanks for the info. I didn't interview last year, i'll be applying this fall to start next spring, so i've got a little time left. It's good to know there are a few people on here that I can talk to if I have questions. ;)
Sorry to keep the thread off topic. :(
