The crest is awesome. Better than I expected. I wasn't a fan of the Union name when it was first kicked around in polls, but the logo turned it around for me.

    1. No. LA Galaxy and Colorado Rapids were circular.
    2. Who cares. The logo is awesome.

I think it's Philadelphia Union just by the way the crest looks.

I've been reading how a large group dislikes the mixing of the fonts, but I like it. To me it is a nice meshing of traditional and modern themes. Also, I tend to look at the logo as two pieces, with the snake/shield as its own entity. The outer ring would lend itself to be used with a wide range of centers; kinda like a "steal your face". I think it would cool if the WPS team used the outer ring with an different center logo.

Nice logo and name guys. You definitely have a great deal of names and situations to work off of when it comes to chants and tifo.

    Good Luck in 2010.

I'm a sworn enemy of "Vegas gold"... it's just so dull and blah to me. When I get home, I'll do a re-color of the logo with a more vibrant yellow or maize color in its place to see how it would've turned out.

Overall, though, this crest is an EPIC WIN. Love it.

Man, the only thing I don’t like about the shield is that it’s got the snake on it. Now I’m sure I’ll have some animosity develop toward that and the “don’t tread” is my favorite national shield even if it is and has never been official. I know you guys wanted to have a shout out to Ben Franklin, but couldn’t you have gone with the turkey?

The logo looks great...symbolic but uncluttered. I might have to try and make it to the announcement on Monday. It's only 99 miles to Philly.

The best part is that we can finally unite behind the team instead of
arguing with each other about potential names. How sweet it is!

    Love the crest...

I haven't read it in this thread yet and I mentioned it in the one on MLS:General, but no one's brought up the subtle nod to the Commodore Barry Bridge.

The top of the shield with the two arches and the gold span that goes underneath the "Union" script looks like a bridge (symbolizing the Philly-Chester union perhaps?) I don't know if that was done intentionally, but there had been whispers of it in BS logo creations previously.

    Nice!

I'll probably just drive down on Sunday to see my family (Mother's Day) and walk to Center City from Fairmount on Monday.

Details on the meeting place in the SOB thread I assume?

While DC's crest will always be my flag (bias? moi??), this crest your organization produced, assuming it is indeed the final, is absolutely top notch

I am sure that the team will discuss it on Monday but the gold/pale gold/buff color on the logo was probably picked less on its color appeal and more on its symbolizing the similar color in the DE and NJ flags (likewise, the navy blue symbolizes PA's flag and the azure blue does the same for the Philly flag).

For those of us 700 miles (or more) away, will this shin-dig be streamed online?

    Just wondering...

Correct. I would not expect the ensuing debauchery to be broadcast for all to see. Although that would be damn funny.
