    Amazing performance.

Him and Carvalho will be unpenetrable at the Euros.

    Very happy for him.

Now all we need is his friend Assuncao from porto to tunr portugeuse and we will have the D-mid we need, hes portos most important player, and a supern d-mid.

    :D

Don't say that, the anti-immigration/citizenship guys will hate on you. :D

I was very happy to see Pepe play, one of the best CB's Portugal has

    Yup, then Liedson!

    Uau, what a great team.
If only we could get Leo… but no problem, lets scout Brazil for some future Portuguese left back.

We can only feel proud of our lil’ Brazil B… how cute.
Who better to show what Lusitans can do in football than Brazilians!?

But hey, if that can get us victories and titles then why not right? Right?

ps: and yes, I’m a racist and xenophobe and everything else…

    Germany has 6/7 polish players..

    france..i cant even count....

Assuncao is perfect for our style, imagine how smooth our midfield would be:D

liedson ill pass on, will be too old.

You know whats funny, announcers never, and I mean NEVER mention the players on Germany with Polish background. France was getting a little stick from the last WC though. But I remember everytime announcers were able to bring up Deco..they would.

If he has Portuguese citizenship, he's okay to play in my books. I've had enough about this "real portuguese" bs.

    Welcome Pepe!

Re: Pepe close to playing for the Seleccao.

nice un-biased comment from you! He is indeed 1 of Porto's most important players and he has already mentioned if they want him on the Portugal NT that he would go...
but I don't know, I think 2 Brazilians is fine, 1 more Braziliand and it would be 1 Brazilian too many IMO.

anyway, am I the only one that thought Pepe looked weird (out-of-place) with the Portugal NT kit on him??!!! I mean, there was something about how that jersey and shorts looked on him, was it just me???

I must admit, he did a fantastic job out there!

Pepe might bleed brazilian blood but he sure does love to work hard and I commend him for that unlike Deco*Cough*

For me the second he stated how honored he was and wouldsing (and then did) the National anthem with pride I couldn't deny him as Portuguese. He could of played for Brazil if he wated as he had the proper "credentials" (Real Madrid which if your Brazilian means you get to start for the NT if you play for them.)

Pepe even sounds more Portuguese when he speaks then when Deco does. He's lost his accent...hahahaha

I share your views but a lot of people are still pretty upset about Pepe playing for Portugal.

When Brazil play for Azeyberjan NT - it is not normal. But Pepe think on Portugal language, speak on them... he is catholic... He have been lived in Portugal since 18... why not to call him to our (Portugal, I`m Love Portugal)))) NT?

BUT, nevertheless, NO more Brazillians in Portugal NT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The one thing that sold me for Pepe was that he CHOSE to play for Portugal instead of Brasil. Thats statement says more then anything else...

He chose Portugal instead of Brasil.

    Pepe played really well.

I am perfectly confortable with players from our ex-colonies like Brazil, Mozambique, even portuguese India (many are more portuguese than most people from the homeland). I can even understand someone a Luso-descendent from far-east countries like Timor, Macau, Thailand, etc (anyway, they'll never produce an half decent player) as long as they share the culture, speak at least a variant of portuguese and love our country.
Im not so ok with an immigrant from a country with a completelly different culture like an ukrainian immigrant or say, Zahavi.

How can you say that a Catholic Ukranian that emigrates to Portugal as a teenager and is eligible to play for the NT be denied the opportunity because he is from a "totally different " culture ? :)

    I put it like this: R.Carvalho > Pepe > J.Andrade > B.Alves > F. Meira
I have a guess about who's not going to be in Euro 2008 but i'll just leave it to me :p

About the naturalization issue, he had the opportunity to choose between Brazil and Portugal, i think he chose the harder one because Brazil just don't have good centre backs enough, that's why they call Luisão ;)

I have a feeling that J. Andrade might not have a chance for Euro 08 due to injury.
