Yeah, but I don't think it's a whole lot for the PDL. As of 2008, it was only <$6,500 a year. There's been a regime change since then, but I can't imagine it's a whole lot.
Well at the PDL you also have SoCal Seahorses which are part of the same national org as the Eagles and Missipi Brilla (different org) are also similar orgainiztions. The folks that ran Cleveland City Start were part of Ambasadors in Sports a similar org. But they never seemed to be as overt with their association. Although the did stress their community invovlement.
Tell you what, you could do a lot worse than have an organization like the Charlotte Eagles. Here's a club that has been around since before MLS and has won championships and been in a ton of finals while making a difference in their community. And they don't have a lot of money to spend.
It is interesting to see all the Christian groups setting up shop in the PDL. Just how widespread is that? (Also, you do have to include BYU in there. Just sayin'...)
I wasn't saying it's a bad thing that the King's Warriors affiliate with the Eagles... it was just the first team that came into my mind when I read that the Warriors are a christian organization. just a little off topic... there are lot a sports team connected to or owned by religious organizations there? here in Italy there's nothing like that in the pro or semi-pro ranks...
wait until the Vatican will create its team... we'll have two teams owned by the heads of two different states!
The article lists the other South Atlantic Division opponents as: West Virginia Chaos Carolina Dynamo FC Palmetto Bantams Fredericksburg Hotspurs Nashville Metros Northern Virginia Royals Real Maryland Monarchs Virginia Beach Piranhas Does that mean that the Baltimore Bohemians and DC United U23 are not in this division? Nashville is a surprise, but with the expansion in Florida it had to go somewhere. It would fit better in the Heartland Division, no? Toronto into Northeast?
Isn't there some big tournament in Vatican City, like with seminary students playing or something? Think I read about in FourFourTwo? In any case, Vatican City FC would be epic.
This solves the Nashville situation. Nashville doesn't surprise me. They're probably going to reshuffle the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Divisions, since in 2011 they had 9 and 5 teams, respectively. They could reshuffle for two 8-team divisions, with Brooklyn, LIRR and Westchester going to the NE, and Baltimore and DCU23 going to the Mid-Atlantic.
Yes, it's called Clericus Cup, and it's virtually the vatican national soccer tournament. Anyway it's not affiliated to UEFA nor to FIGC, but to a federation called CSI (Centro Sportivo Italiano), with really strong catholic connections... they even usa a blue card that send the players out for 5 minutes when they're pissed off... Well, I still hope the Bagnasco was joking when he talked about this...
which reminds me of one of my favorite sportscenter commercials: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksTnfz-F8KE"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksTnfz-F8KE[/ame]
Accidentally posted this in the USL Pro forum, but will just act that I meant to. I can confirm that FC Tucson now is looking at three possible options for there home field. Tucson High School, Kino North, and a third unidentified location. It sounds like Pima County is asking for to much. They've (as in FC Tucson) have also signed an outfitter sponsorship. Can't say who it is yet.
