when she drove by and saw her campaign sign was ... wrong, i lost it. had to keep it paused until i could regain my composure. i actually kinda wish they hadn't gone into the store and gotten it fixed ... or at least they hadn't shown them doing that. it dragged out the joke a bit and diminished it slightly. still some top quality laughs there, though. i have mixed emotions about the tom and tommy's girl storyline. a part of me thinks they (the writers) could be doing a much better job with it, because it's not very funny. the other part of me, though, can see it actually playing out like that with tom being who he is.
I think the Ann and Tom story would work better if, a la Schmidt and CeCe in New Girl, there was an undercurrent of sex that was making her keep coming back. Otherwise, it's just puzzling. I feel bad for Rashida - they have really not figured out what to do with her character since the pit was filled in and Ron and Ben have provided the more stable parts of Leslie's life.
In my opinion, the Tom and Ann relationship seems like a lazy humor-free version of Liz Lemon and the British Wesley Snipes on 30 Rock. Clearly the relationship doesn't work, in fact that seems to be the writers' purpose, but they push forward for no good reason. This relationship seems a bit out of character for Ann and is placing Tom on the annoying end of a funny-annoying scale. Other than that, I thought it was a solid episode: The Meagles are a cold people. Ron: Is this all the eggs you have? Donna: Yeah, what are you making? Ron: Eggs. Leslie: I have a prediction that by the end of night you'll say "sabbatical, shmabattaical. Leslie's the best, she can do it all, and I'm stupid." Ron: That does sound like me.
This is a question that has come up elsewhere too, and it could be that Ann's not an actually fleshed-out character. How Do You Solve Parks and Rec’s Ann Perkins Problem? Fantastic.
jerry might be my favorite character on the show... well, behind ron, of course. good stuff last night.
Ron instantly reached a state of yoga empty-headedness that generally takes a ton of work for Chris to achieve. -G
I saw it available online and thought I missed it so I got it and watched it. It wasn't until your comment that I realized it must have been shown in Canadia last night. I'm glad I didn't post any spoilers.
I had a suspicion Andy was describing Road House when he talked about tackling the guy off the motorcycle but it was his spot on fighting pose that confirmed it. The debate was great, kinda cheesy but that was to be expected. If Paul Rudd's character is gonna replace Rob Lowe's next year I'm ok with that. Losing the positivity of Chris would be a bummer but I think the disfunctionality of Bobby would help spur stories relating to the parks & rec department.
While I agree, I think there's no way in hell Rudd is going to TV. Even if Bobby does win the election, I'd imagine Lowe would stick around full time and Rudd would be a pop-in. Rudd just has too much skin in the movie game to go to TV at this point.
Hopefully Ann and Tom's relationship is officially over. And speaking of Tom, is it just me or has his character almost been unbearable the last two seasons? At this point, i cannot stand him anymore.
Agree completely. And another thing. Correct me if I am wrong. Was not Leslie's mother the mayor or former mayor? IF so, how does she/this not get mentioned even once in all this campaigning? Big oversight for such a smart show.
She was with the county school system, not city government. Maybe a minor note that she hasn't been involved, but I wouldn't make that big a deal of it since it hasn't always been the smoothest relationship and Leslie may want to stand on her own.
Nobody's mentioned Buddy Garrity yet? Clear eyes, full hearts. And I love how the Pawnee residents have become Springfield-like in that they keep building on their characters with each appearance. Perd could probably have his own spin-off.
Watching the Director's Cut on Hulu. In the first act, lots of small little touches, including another Hoosiers shout out.
I think Mike Schur mentioned how he wanted to create a Springfield like world in one of his interviews. May have been with Sepinwall a while back. When Denise Yurman sings, everyone wins. Besides Perd, I think Guy that starts chants at town hall meetings might be my favorite. "Ham and Mayonnaise! Ham and Mayonnaise" "Her daughter is an idiot, Her daughter is an idiot"
