Working on it...no joke. Personally, I do imbibe a slider or two occasionally. I also eat some papa johns. but the thing to take away here...is that in the last 2 years we have had 3 major sponsor signings. Barabasol Papa Johns White Castle (4 if you include the car place, cos every team needs a car sponsor) ... I will venture a guess that a couple more recognizable names on that last and we will finally see a stadium sponsor. Corporate sponsorship snowballs as other companies dont want to be left off the bandwagon.
Someone mentioned Rax! I had completely forgotten about that place. It was better than Arby's. There was one in Mansfield when I was a kid. Ah . . . memories.
The current owner of the Rax name is in Ironton, OH, my hometown growing up and I worked at the one that is still there when I was a kid. Good stuff...yes, better than Arby's.
Good point. I just feel Papa John's is a step down from Donanto's, both in terms of product, not being local, and the overall conduct of the CEO. I love it that the Crew is gaining big time sponsors and hope it bodes well, I just don't want it to be corporate crminal types who abuse employees (Wallmart) or are a ponzi shceme energy drink that is garbage, or is associated with a total lying jerk (Livestrong). White Castle has certainly been involved before. Remember when each slide tackle was brought to you by White Castle, home of the slider?
The last Hardees I saw was out in Coshocton but I have no idea if it's still there. I didn't know that about Rax, I loved it as a kid. I also loved Burger Chef and I think Hardees bought them out, too.
I haven't thought about Rax for years. Way better than Arby's and at one point the Canton location had a small all you can eat with a taco bar which was a favorite after soccer practice. Good memories.
A better bet is to go to the stage at the top of 135. They sometimes (most of the time) make a big issue of you using the stairs by the Nordecke to go down to the stage because they have no way to guarantee that you aren't just going to sneak into the section. By the way, also make certain you have your ticket out in order to LEAVE the stage. A few of the idiots in security have been known to force you to show your ticket to leave.
Bellefontaine had one near downtown years ago, might still be there. But, who goes to downtown Bellefontaine?
Indeed. 135 is probably the better bet as long as you don't get any of those knuckleheads who insist you have a ticket for that section in order to enter like what they had last year on the sidelines. Was it you who was forced to remain on the stage for several minutes AFTER the game ended because the usher made you show your ticket which you didn't have? If they're insisting on making people show tickets, too bad they won't (or can't) open up the stairs behind 135.
There's one in Circleville as well. Were they the ones with the salad bars, or did Wendy's have them too?
White Castle is one of the main reasons I haven't eaten meat in 28 years, and Papa Johns pizza is disgusting. But I shouldn't be surprised that the same business plan used to hire a head coach is used to decide stadium food - cheap and bad.
There used to be a Rally's at Bethel and Sawmill (in front of Columbus Gold) but I think it's closed.
When I was growing up in Mansfield there were actually 2 Rax restaurants; one at the end of Trimble before ending at Lexington Ave. And one on 4th before coming to the Richland Mall. Enjoyed them both.
While I totally respect your opinion on not eating meat, to use "White Castle" and "meat" in the same sentence is an insult to meat. A meat-eater can get a damn fine steak in Columbus if they're willing to pay for it. It probably not "cheap and bad" but just a simple case of the team wanting to follow the dollars. Give it time and we'll see how this decision works out.
The Ohio Historical Soceity has the food trucks come to the Ohio Village before a Crew game, we went last year and they do have some good food, it's sponsored by Yuengling so the Crew I don't think can let the fans know about it because it would tick off Budwieser. I thought we were not to mention Politics and yet I see some here got there panties in a bunch about the CEO of Papa John's.
