http://www.bruinsnation.com/2011/5/...-12s-new-tv-deal-with-espn-fox-pac-12-network - A new Pac-12 TV network will be formed in 2012. Distribution is yet to be determined. - More football games on Fox and ESPN networks. - A number of Pac-12 football games will be aired on the Pac-12 network. - No more football games on Fox Sports Net after 2011. The deal is for 12 years and almost $3 billion dollars, starting in 2012. I wonder how this news affects ESPN's ability to bid for the Olympics and World Cup rights?
Pac-12's TV deal worth 21 million bucks anually per school. More importantly, it's about time the conference gets more national exposure other than USC and Oregon
Gus Johnson is now the lead announcer for College Football on FOX! Rise and FIRE!!! Gus is the best announcer alive today in American Sports.
problem is, not that many people (relatively speaking - relative to the East Coast, Midwest and the South) care about college football on the West coast. and most of their games come on way late, so people in the Eastern and Central time zones aren't going to watch. so great, they got a tv deal, they will have a bunch of their games on TV, but nobody will stay up to watch the games.
"Relative" is irrelevant- they are after a floor number of viewers and a floor rating. Comparing the region with one where there are no cultural activities aside from college football doesn't change the Pac-10/12's goals. It's not that no one watches college ball out West- it's that every damn body and his coonhound watches it in the South (with the East Coast and Midwest trailing by some distance). The major sports media --the guys who start this kind of talk to begin with-- people all are east of the Mississippi, and can therefore be dismissed when giving their views on anything related to West coast ball.
Pac-12 will have games on Thursday and Friday on primetime as part of the deal and to get more viewers
