Feilhaber... oh come on.... get it in the net.
Unfortunately, as we all knew, the Revs are just not a playoff team
Personally? I just want them to score a few times.
Makes me wish NBC Sports would of used the CSN NE crew instead for commentary.
Looks like I got my wish (at least Jurisevic finally screwed up for us). Man, if the past two weeks are representative of MLS reffing we've got a long way to go.
Shut up Dunseth.
Another day in Revsland
And now faking injuries by Union. Stay classy.
Next person who mentions "Revs" and "playoffs" in the same sentence is getting punched in the kidneys.
Hand got stepped on by Alston's cleat.
Now Macca with a bloody head.
Well congrats to the refs for handing this game to the Union.
Well Imbongo for Rowe seemed like a good sub
I like how the Revs play this year. The majority of the games have been full of attacking moments from the Revs. I can't help but wonder, however, if we would have more points if Jay was willing to have his players kill off the game by playing more defensively.
As soon as Benny gave that ball away I knew it was going to be trouble...So what college Jrs & Srs look good?
Really though, I guess my only thought is that Imbongo looked like a physical target player. I could convince myself to be be ok with a 2013 ST group of: Bengston, Sene, Imbongo, Brettschneider, Fagundez.(as long as we improve the D)
Yes, the referee sucked. He didn't have the balls to make calls for himself and his ARs hung him out to dry. Ref was screened on the handling, but the AR had a clear view. On the PK, Jurisevic first called DFK, then changed it to PK after getting a signal (most likely in the headset) from his AR.
However, the Rev had ample opportunities to score and didn't. The unforced passing errors were too numerous to count (although I am sure someone will ).
Perhaps, but the phantom penalty kind of took that option off the table tonight.
Ironically, right up to the moment he gave McInerney too much space, I thought Alston had a really good match. His pace helped kept Philly's faster midfield pinned back a bit.
We had some opportunities to catch Philly on the counter, but we didn't have a clinical finisher on the pitch, nor are we strong enough up the middle to really throw Benny into the attack.
-we shouldn't have lost that game, we created so many good chances and just couldn't convert
-this was Benny's best performance of the season, he was a beast defensively and it's really too bad his volley didn't find the net and Rowe didn't just miss the finish on his beautiful through ball
-aside from a few typical poor decisions on the ball Sene was also very good
-both teams should have had a pk for a handball at each end, McCarthy should have been red carded for taking down the last man, and apparently Alston's stupid tackle was outside the box so I think we can say the ref was neutrally horrendous
-Imbongo looks decent and is clearly better than Brettschneider
-Hoppenot got behind our backline a ridiculous amount of times which segways into my next point:
-WE NEED A NEW LEFT BACK, I am so sick of Chris Tierney and his awful play
Overall a frustrating loss to take since our offense created so many good changes, and the nail in the playoff coffin is getting closer and closer
oops didn't see this before I posted, please spare my kidneys lol
Hahaha wow that is completely not true, he sucked but both sides got screwed over. We handed the game to the Union because we couldn't finish
They have to learn how to play a high line better. Many horrible offside trap attempts throughout the game. Admire Heaps' attacking philosophy but again, its way too rushed and not balanced with a calculated retention game. I thought it was a very good performance, just terribly unlucky at times and sprinkled with the usual lapses in concentration.
How about better defenders?
I'm a broken record on this--think I posted it right before the game in the transfer thread, even--NEW CB, NEW LB...NEW CB, NEW LB...
We need a commanding presence in the middle and Soares is not it, McCarthy might make a good jr. partner.
And as far as Tierney is concerned...so what if the guy can occasionally whip in a cross? He's slow as molasses and can't shut down service to save his life. As a defender, he's simply not adequate at this level. But then again, we KNEW that at the start of the season.
The refs are responsible for putting the Revs in a position to lose the game (2-0 and 1-1 are dramatically different game situations) but the Revs are equally responsible for not scoring up to 5 goals in this game. Philly's defense was horrible and we didn't punish them for it at all - it's worrying that the 2 goals we've scored in the last 5 games have been golazos/flukes and not the result of buildup or breaking down the defense.
Rowe, Joseph, Imbongo and Sene (twice) all should have burned MacMath, who at this stage in his career is a *very* subpar GK, and none of them could do it. The team's skittishness in front of goal lately is a very disturbing trend in play (I know I've said it already this post but it really bears repeating). Maybe we need someone like that Bengtson guy who's scored 3 goals for Honduras in the Olympics. He'd make a pretty good DP.
Also, this game was *screaming* for Cardenas and Heaps picks this one time ever to make a straight D-for-D swap instead of pushing Joseph back to CB. His tactical mistakes are getting more visible as the season wears on.
That call should NEVER be red. Yes McCarthy may be the last man but the ball was played away from goal and there's no clear path and/or denial of a goal scoring opportunity. Also, there's a pretty good chance that Alston gets to that ball before anyone.
well that was a craptastic display or passing last night. Its funny how Sene can switch fields and put it right at the guys feet 40 yards away but can't connect a pass to a guy 5 yards away. Nasty knuckle ball by Sene....too bad he dribbles with his head down. he should have laid one off to Benny for a sure goal instead he does his tippy toe ballet moves and looses the ball. Official was terrible but so were the Revs. Shalrie missed a sure goal and Benny blasts one to the keeper who gives up a rebound 6 yards away and no Revs to be seen following up.....thats simple stuff they teach in Rec. Alston can do a great job 1 v 1 shutting down a guy on the dribble but ask him to defend a cross is trouble every time
