Who: Dynamo v NY/DC, Eastern Conference Final When: Sunday, November 11 @ 3PM CST Where: BBVA Compass Stadium, Houston, TX Records: Dynamo (14-9-11) 53 PTS, 5th in EAST; TBD TV: TBD Radio TBD Obviously a mod will have to come in and change a few things but I figured we might as well get the ball rolling. First off, in case you hadn't heard, the NY/DC game was postponed last night due to the snow storm blowing through Jersey. They will play tonight, November 8, at RBA @ 630pm CST on NBC Sports Network. The first leg, played at RFK, ended up tied 1-1. Tickets have been on sale for Sunday's game and, as of this post, there have been rumored to be 13,000 tickets already sold. Translation: when 9AM rolls around, call the Dynamo and get your tickets. A sellout is very likely. This is the 1st leg of the Conference Final. That's right, no one-game knock off anymore. Home-Home series, total goals advances to MLS Cup, which is December 1. The Dynamo have qualified for 5 Conference Finals in their 7 years, winning 3. Injuries and Suspensions will start to be a very big problem for us as this will be our 4th game in 12 days. Jermaine Taylor sat out the last game in KC while Calen Carr came off with an injury early in the game. Corey Ashe and Oscar BG were booked, adding them to the growing list of players who are one yellow card away from suspension (Carr, Sarkodie, Hall, Davis).
Let's all hope it's DC. if it's New York, who knows what shenanigans we will be subjected to before the ball is ever kicked? Also, I'm glad the game got pushed back. Our boys need an extra day of rest and besides, they don't like to roll on Shabbos.
Dynamo in Conference Championships: 2006: Dynamo v Colorado Rapids 3-1 2007: Dynamo v KC Wizards 2-0 2009: Dynamo @ LA Galaxy 0-2 AET (Dynamo v Stadium Lights 0-2) 2011: Dynamo @ Sporting KC 2-0 That's 3-1 all time, with 7 GF and 3 GA
I thought if the Energy Drinks knock off DC, they qualify automatically for MLSC? MLS really screwed the pooch with that series, big time. Seriously, though, as far as match-ups, I'm pulling for DC. To say we've owned them at home is a slight understatement. To call Houston a House of Horrors for DC just isn't quite right either. It's worse than that and I really think we can put the series away here at home.
If I had a preference, I'd lean D.C. I still have nightmares of Angel, Wolyniec, & co turning us over at Robertson.
Just got the call from Dom, even he wants DC. Dom: "We have advanced to the East Conf. Finals and will play against the winner of either *loud and clear* DC United or *mumble* NYRB *mumble*."
We think the curse of the El Paso kid is strong, but no where near the curse of Caricola. Damn NY. Damn. The Curse of Caricola is alive and well.
Can't wait to welcome DC back to BBVA. That game was epic. Not to mention they will be without a gk that had an amazing game. Sunday can't come soon enough.
First and last game of 2012 at BBVA is with DCU. And both wins for the Dynamo. My friend Oranger keeps adding to this... Both games on NBCSC and almost exactly 6 months apart.
what an amazing turn of events. The absolute best scenario has occured........ if we beat DC and LA beats Seattle the MLS CUP WILL BE AT BBVA STADIUM... AND WE WILL GET REVENGE OVER LA FOR LAST YEAR.................I AM OVER THE MOON!!!! COMEONYOUDYNAMOCOMEONYOUMLSCUPBRINGITTOTHEOVENBABY.!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is incorrect. The Dynamo are the lowest team remaining on the overall points table. We will be traveling for the Cup final.
This would have happened had we won our last regular season game, but instead we rolled out the reserve squad. I understand why we did it and at the end of that Epic battle with SKC our players were spent. Not sure how they would have looked had the first team played the Rapids. It would have been awesome to have a chance to host in the first season, but we should have won a few more games instead of tying crappy teams. Time to take care of business with DC
Not a problem. If we get to go back to LA we get to erase last year's winter fest at Home Depot. With a healthy Brad Davis this year we punk 'em good.
Resting the 1st team vs. Colorado was huge IMO vs. Chicago and probably helped us overall the last 3 games. One thing about Wed was that SKC had only played one game in the last 14 days before that, they finished the regular season on the last Wed of the season so they had extra rest going into this series. At this point, we have one more accumulated game on our mileage but DC isn't that much better in terms of intense games the last 2 weeks and have a shorter rest before Sunday. I expect the Dynamo to still be a little heavy in the legs, but the disadvantage is probably neutralized.
Any word on Taylor. I'm assuming since he was a game time decision on Wednesday it's possible we might see him. Or maybe Dom rests him one more game for the posible DeRo show down in DC.
