Can you link to your source? I've been looking at this site (http://www.playoffstatus.com/mls/mls.html), but I don't think that information is there.

I'll second that, since I'm going to that game too!

Right now I'm furious with Landon for his yellow card suspension. I don't think he's ever been suspended for yellow card accumulation and he picks this game...the ONE game over the past two years that I finally got MY starts aligned and everything worked out and I get to go. And He. Won't. Be. There. I was so looking forward to watching the Keane/Donovan combo live.

As for the Chivas game, we were pretty solid and in control the entire match. LD could have easily had 4 goals. I thought Becks was boss out there, some really nice touches when they'd close him down. Juninho got his act together. Sarvas I thought had another solid game. Great to see Gonzo. And even Lopes had a strong game (for him) with some well-timed lovely tackles and not his typical bone-headed breakdowns.

I'm very, very impressed with Gaul. Every time he's played, he has really good composure out there. I think we've found our replacement for Todd Dunivant as Todd begins to age. Hope Bruce brings him along well.

*Edit to add: I really, really liked the 3rd kit. We looked very sexy in them..and played sexy too!

Can anyone let me know why Chivas even exists anymore? They have no talent and no identity. They have not connected with the Hispanic communities they were geared towards. They are failures on every level. Why do they still exist? Let's just call them a failed experiment and move on.

Some sort of tax write off? Not being silly, but Vergara seems to have completely forgotten about them.

I could get it if they were Chivas LA or Chivas Santa Ana and if thy has some philosophy about the players they use like the way Chivas (real) uses only Mexicans. But Chivas USA has no identity.

Something needs to change. You are quite right, the owner needs to care for starters.

I was unable to watch the entire match due to an important engagement so I was forced to watch it on my phone (credit and big thank you to ricebubble) Now for me this game is not about points, standings, strategy etc. It's simple no matter where we are in the league it is just a matter of national duty that we destroy this vermin known as chivas every chance we get. They are disease to football as much as their parent club which is equally disgusting. So 3-1 is a respectable margin of victory for me, It washes away that bitter taste of a loss from the last match. Now I don't see us getting the SS this season my hope is we get a decent playoff seed and then all bets are off and we steamroll to the final and claim our back to back title. And a CCL deep run or even trophy would be nice.

It's interesting to note Bruce is admitting the off-season loans were a mistake like many here have suggested.

If you're looking at pure percentages, you're right. But 3 points moves San Jose 2 more points ahead of Galaxy. The goal should, IMO, be to finish 1st no matter how long the odds.

I thought Chivas was supposed to have a rock solid defense. LAG just ripped them apart at will.

Note: Chivas has only scored 13 goals this season? I almost feel sorry for them!

Here’s how bad it is, there’s no game thread for yesterday. The “Super Classico”, their most arched or arch enemies and no one can fake a little interest. I’m sure there were more Chivas fans sprinkled through the stands, but the official(?) away section in the northwest corner was no where near as full as the Portland game.

Have you seen their home games?? They put that big tarp in the section behind the goal and close the upper deck. And they still can't fill it! I don't think they could fill the stadium if they offered free parking, or free food! (We all know the only way they can fill it is by playing us. Right, San Jose)

    East LA is essentially "Tijuana-USA."

I was assuming we had no prayer of catching SJ. What's more important to me right now is avoiding that playoff game at the start of the playoffs. We need to finish at least 3rd. Seattle and Vancouver must be conquered.

Small steps before we get lofty.

The odds of us catching San Jose are so small that they aren't really worth considering. The season is 2/3 played, and at this point our goal should be finishing in the top 3 in the west. This is realistic, and then puts us in a good spot to make a deep run in the playoffs.

Exactly. Ever since the break I have targeted that 3rd playoff spot as the optimal spot. We miss that play-in game and it allows us to rest up and be ready for a long playoff push. Just think though, if we had one those smurf and philly games we could possibly be in 2nd or 1st place. That puts in perspective not only how well we have been playing after the break but also how, if we can continue to play at this level, no spot may be out of our reach. Especially with the unbalanced schedule, it allows us to make up ground really fast.

The last nine matches, we have averaged 2.1 ppg. That's better than the best ppg average for any team over the full length of the season, so it is probably not reasonable for us to expect to continue to average that. However, even if we do continue with that average, and the other teams in the west continue with their season-long average, we would be in third place, but would still end up significantly behind RSL and San Jose by the end of the season.
