No Omar, no Keane. Offense is going to definitely be a work in progress. Defensively we should be okay but Leo needs to stop having brain farts and stay concentrated for 90. Clark has got to show something this game because we barely have any players that will be available that can create. Getting pulled after 45 and our offense becoming noticeably better after the half is disheartening for him. Hopefully after another week of training he is able to pull it together. All in all, this is going to be an ugly game. I want a win but I think a tie might be what ends up happening.

Probably. But part of me would love to see the Super-Teens get activated and go:

    Dunivant----Leo-----AJ----Franklin

Trust me, I dislike Clark as much as the next guy, but I don't think the Super-Teens are ready yet to start together up top. I think we need to still surround them and pair them with veterans in MLS play. McBean has shown that he can come off the bench and be affective and change the game for the opposition. Plus I don't think Villarreal is ready to play 90 minutes of a MLS match, and we're really thin on the bench at forward to start two guys at forward that would probably have to be subbed out if started.

I don't think we will have Franklin for this game after the Dis Co reviews boot to the chest moment. :(

Yup, Franklin is most likely going down. With Perk also out I wonder who will be on our bench? Meyer most likely slides into the middle and AJ goes out to the right.

I would be surprised if there were any postmortem penalty for Franklin. Yes he created a dangerous play by getting his boot waaay too high but there was zero intent to foul. He was going for the ball, not the man (unlike most of Chivas' fouls which were clearly aimed at the player, not the ball). It was very slightly worse but still quite similar to the play that Nani (?) got wrongly red-carded for in the Man U-Real Madrid game, a call that was so bad that Ferguson refused to come out for the post game interview. Should have been a yellow in both cases.

It will be rough but our fab five should run those crapids out of town. The defense is what worries me more right now, the boys have got to concentrate and be tuned in for 90 minutes of football. Let's go LAG !

Juninho and Sarvas really need to step up and be the leaders the team needs. Especially Juninho. Take charge, Juni. Now is the time.

Yep. As long as MLS insists on playing during WC Qualifying this is going to happen, and it's really on those two to boss the midfield and give the young forwards a chance to get in good positions. I honestly have really enjoyed Sarvas' play in the past 3 games. I know he's been a bit sloppy with the ball sometimes, but damn he flies around, is not afraid of a tackle, and is involved in so many plays. Love his attitude and his game, and if he can tighten up the passing a bit more and get more on the same page with Keane, he's a beast.

    1. Robbie Keane (int. duty)
    2. Omar Gonzalez (int. duty)
    3. Landon Donovan (out)
    4. Brian Perk (inj.)
    5. Kenny Walker (inj.)
    6. Gyasi Zardes (inj.)
    7. Bryan Gaul (inj.)

That's a lot of fire power and muscle not available against Colorado.

Does Sorto make the bench for this game with Franklin most likely out with that karate kick?

So I just watched the RSL / Colo highlights -- and even though they almost stole the three points at the end, it seemed like all their opportunities came from some disastrous RSL defending. Real bonehead stuff -- otherwise, they did not really create much of anything.

Obviously, we are going to be prime candidates for repeating those offenses with no Omar, but hopefully we can put a few past their rookie keeper. Perkins broke his arm and is out for months, but this kid Irwin came in and played huge. But I'm hoping it was just pure adrenaline at being thrown into the fire and he'll crumble in his first full start.

I watched the Colorado first half, and their first round draft pick, Jamaican Deshorn Brown, was playing as a lone forward and he created several dangerous opportunities, on mistakes and the counterattack. Fast, strong and pretty skilled. Probably put AJ on him and hope.

A lot of negativity about our defense this game, I don't get it. This is the first time I can remember that we have 2 experienced CBs when Gonzo is out that have played this season already and are both starting xi players. AJ + Leo

    ------------Magee----McBean-------------
    -----Clark------------------Stephens------
    -----------Juninho--Marcelo--------------
    Dunivant-----AJ---Leonardo---Franklin
    -----------------Cudicini--------------------

    * I really don't see Franklin getting suspended for that (clumsy but not intentional)
    * McBean over Villareal due to current form
    * Sarvas goes by Marcelo anyway so I'm gonna start using it too (plus it sounds cooler :))

For me, it's that Meyer and Leo have yet to show enough consistently. I know they've shown well at times (Meyer during the playoffs), but until it comes consistently I won't be comfortable with anyone other than Gonzo back there with AJ.

Also, don't you think Villarreal is in good form? I mean, it seems like playing him from the start then bringing McBean on to run and muscle off the tired D has worked.

I thought Villareal was mediocre at best last week. The kid must be exhausted too, i dont think he souldve been started last week. I see ur point tho but i dont think he has the steam nor form from last week to start.

As for CBs, Leo has played pretty darn well this year I believe. Meyer hasn't played this season yet. Also Bruce is obviously prefiguring a Leo + Gonzo pairing so lets keep them there as often as possible.

I will have to give you that. Didn't he play in all the U-20 games? He's gotta be running on fumes at this point so hopefully Bruce brings him along properly and doesn't rush.

I wonder if we'll see either Rugg or Hoffman make an appearance?

Know how people predicted Buddle scores a brace against LA? At least it'll be early into the season so the team can take their ass kicking like men and move on, kind of like those six months in jail you dont like talking about :D. An ugly 2-1 loss or an even uglier 1-1 draw.

I wish Buddle nothing but the best, but he is off his ass if he thinks he's gonna score on us. AJ probably knows his style like the back of his hand by now

We need this win to make up for the Chivas game and make some points up. I expect a rested much more fired up team. On a second note. Can we wear the Black kit. that thing is gorgeous and needs to be shown off. The gold and black look quite classy and its my favorite kit that I purchased.

Is he fit to be playing again?
Even if he is, I'm not worried about it. I agree completely about AJ being able to shut him down.
