He's gone, he's gone, the president that everyone loves to hate. When the best thing you can say about Rosell is that he wasn't quite as inept at transfer dealings as his predecessors, well, it's not exactly a shining eulogy on his presidency. Nor is the fact that what seemed to be his best transfer deal eventually ended up being his undoing. Y'know, as far as we get to know. On the pitch we are now the hunter instead of the hunted. Messi is back but he's not quite all the way back yet we're all hoping he does come back because we need him and there's also this summer tournament that he needs to get into God mode for. Also the transfer window is now closed and Barça find themselves in a familiar situation with no new CB being brought in (how many windows in a row is that now?) yet still very much alive in all three competitions. Liking the self-deprecation in the thread title, y'know, to keep us hungry... Cuenca named to squad for CdR showdown with la Real tomorrow. It'll be interesting to see if he still has that pizzazz from a couple years back. Apparently, in his time off he's learned the art of levitation. Full squad list: Valdes, Pinto, Alves, Montoya, Bartra, Pique, Mascherano, Puyol, Adriano, Alba, Busquets, Song, Xavi, Sergi Roberto, Iniesta, Afellay, Cesc, Cuenca, Pedro, Alexis, Messi, Tello
You think we have "no chance" in La Liga? CL is tougher as it includes even more winner candidates, but even there I'd say we have a chance, even if I wouldn't say we're the biggest favourite.
Translated using google sorry Wonder if the crowd will boo or whistle at alves the next time he plays
If that's the way you feel, then don't post in any more Liga or Champions League match threads this season.
Can't see us winning La Liga at all . Maybe third place as the two Madrid clubs appear to be getting stronger at the same time as we are getting weaker and playing poorer ....
True. But since you feel Barca can only win the Copa why bring your pessimism into Liga and Champions chat? What would that accomplish amongst others who believe the league is far from dead and buried? Or do you just like trying to wind people up (trolling)?
I'm not a mod but I have no problem with a Barca fan posting pessimistic comments (about Barca players, coaches, game plans, likelihood of winning a match or a trophy) on any of our Barca threads, so long as the comments are not designed just to wind people up I think it is fine if not all of us wear rose colored glasses all the time. FWIW right now Oddschecker shows Barca 13;10; Real 13:8; and Atletico 7:2 for winning Liga (with those odds considered I'd go for Atletico and the nice payout). In CdR we are also the slight favorite 9:10 vs. 21:20 for Real M, and 74:1 for Atletico and 350:1 for Real S. For CL Real M takes the lead over us (given their much easier first elimination opponent): Bayern Munich 13/5 Real Madrid 9/2 Barcelona 23/4 Manchester City 12 Chelsea 14
I have no problem either. Well, with four out of five of those things you list. For someone to suggest that the Liga (3 points behind first place) and Champions (have yet to play a KO match) are lost causes when we've only entered February is a bit too negative for my liking. A case of someone being spoiled with success.
It's also historical amnesia. We traditionally have a flat spell in the winter, esp. in February. And to imply the Madrid clubs will sweep the rest of La Liga aside is basically assuming something that has never, ever happened is bound to happen. It's a logical non sequitur.
Well "only chance" is certainly strong but that was tempered by "I feel" and frankly we've been playing pretty poorly in our last couple games, and there is the whole Messi has not scored from an open play in La Liga in over 4 months (sure, he was out injured for half that time). So it was a strong statement / feeling but I could understand feeling pessimistic given recent results. We started amazingly under Tata, we are spoiled, lately we've played a few poor matches. No need to panic, but OK if a fan feels nearly all (CL and Liga) is lost and wants to share that on here. It is just a feeling, it may prove prescient or preposterous, time will tell.
I'll give the Zlatan fan this: The whole "I feel... only chance" losing mentality places himself in a future a win-win situation. I guess. If Barca win La Liga or Champions, "Yippee!" If they don't, "I told you so!"
I think I'm just being realistic to be honest considering that we will probably be 5 points behind A Madrid by Sunday
