Is it me, or am I just crazy in regards to our poor offensive mentality when we penetrate inside the box. Donovan passed up a shot again today from about 10 yards out on Dempsey's goal.
Obviously, it turned out to work for us since Dempsey scored, but it was a horrible decision to cut that ball back and play it against two defenders in the middle. I think he chose to cross a ball across the box earlier in this tournament as well. I forget against who though, but he crossed it to nobody with Altidore as a trailer, when he should have went at the keeper with a shot.
Altidore did the same thing in the Italy game by playing the diagonal ball back across the middle when he was about eight yards out on an angle. Why aren't these guys shooting from that close?
It's almost like they're trained this way. Another thing, why in the hell don't we switch fields ever? I'm ecstatic we won, but we gotta get better at the fundamentals.

thre was another US player in the box as well, perhaps he was thinking they had numbers...

we do need to be more direct in general, Harkes has said that as well.
