I like to think of Strootman as the Anti Carrick. Carrick, despite his physical stature is soft. But great footballer. But not good enough going forward considering his touch, technique, and intelligence. Strootman is fierce, and very comfortable going forward. Gets stuck in.

Anti Carrick is a great expression and should be used more.

    Thanks for that.

Wouldnt Anti Carrick means poor defensive awareness positioning and unable to play in midfield by his own.

Raul Meireles for e.g., if there was an anti Carrick he is, I wonder if Boban fan would want him at Milan.

Probably, but The point stands right? He's tougher/harder/more authoritative than Carrick.

Have to see that still and with ability, its not easy to play in a two man midfield for a big club when Strootman has done it then we will compare his authority with Carrick.

There's very little authority in Carricks game to compare to anyway though.

I know a lot of people like the look of strootman, but I really rate him very very highly. For me, if we signed him. He'd be our answer to Man Cities Yaya Toure. Thats worded poorly because I dont necessarily mean to stop Yaya toure, but it would be a battle that comes to the fore in each and every encounter.

Haha, apparently, by your standards, no one did.

If thats your idea of authoritative, then you really are on a wind up.

I didn't say he was commanding or very authoritative but there's no grounds to say his game is bereft of authority.

Since I've joined this forum Johno, you are probably the only poster that hasnt changed in the slightest. Its that typical Black/African/Carribean man stubbornness and lack of humility .... I got that too.

Im not perfect either, so maybe I shouldnt be talking. But I just felt like i had to express that. No beef, no ill will. Just disappointment.

    Be gone.

How much Strootman did you see this season benni? I actually think his performances really tailed off.

Doing a Carrick could also mean someone with the talent and physique to become an all-time domineering player in their position but don't have the personality to do so.

I've seen at least 15 full league games a handful of Europa Cup games and all his national team appearances.

He has tailed off. But too be fair, so did everyone else on that team did. They looked like they would walk through the league early. Its really just what he brings to the table that excites me and is probably gonig to be the only other midfielder I'd be ahppy to see next to Carrick in a 442.
