If Barca go out, which I believe they will, it's Bayern's to lose.

I dont think it's as clear cut.
Bayern would probably struggle against Juventus, BVB and Milan(if they defend like they did today). Who knows maybe even Man Utd/Real Madrid could surprise us.

These are the reasons I mentioned Bayern's current form......

You're right that we don't know what the future holds.

All I am saying is I dont think they are favorites even on current form.
Bayern are a very well organized team with many talented players but there are others like them this season - us and Juventus in particular.
Anything can happen when those three play against other. It will be very close.
We finished 1-1 against them. Leverkusen beat them 2-1. They destroyed all the other Bundesliga teams but against the 2nd and 3rd who are well coached/organized this season, they couldnt win. Beating a very poor Arsenal team convincingly is good but they haven't played a top team yet apart from BVB.

I hate to say it, but we were LUCKY to come out of that match 1-1.

Anyhow, your opinion is very reasonable. I don't agree, but you make good points.

    Time will tell.

Very funny! But he might have just written a check his teammates' asses can't cash.........

If I'm Tito Vilanova, I'm keeping this in Leo Messi's face until they get Milan at Camp Nou.

    Return Leg: 3-0 Barca.

You can bet Milan is going to park the bus and it will be an u-g-l-y game.

I wish there were more things in the world which seem to bring as much joy as Leo Messi having a bad match........ :whistling:

I would say it would be cool if this happened when Franck Ribery has a bad match. However, I realize this happens very often and when it does, no one cares except Bayern and France fans. Maybe fellow "married johns" too, I don't know........

You know? If Messi had bad matches as much as some other players, the world just might be a better place.

What a pretender. He doesn't belong in that select group of players who never have bad matches! Let's see. They are..........

    Hmmm. Who are they??

Funny, yet sad all at the same time........

The thing is Messi has never scored a goal in open play against Italian teams out of 9 games. He struggles against teams who can defend.

The italians don't defend like they do in la liga..

Italy takes defense to an art form. It's in their DNA.
So naturally teams from Spain usually struggle with Italian teams defensive tactics.

I think it is hilarious how some of you take one stat and make blanket statements from it.

"He struggles against teams who can defend." Yes, especially when their main mission is simply to stop him. Show me a player who didn't.

If "Italians have taken defense to an art form", why was this very AC Milan side, in a weak f#cking group with Malaga, Zenit and Anderlecht only able to keep one clean sheet throughout the group phase??

BVB was in the f#cking "Group of Death" and kept two clean sheets. We were perceived to be having defensive problems!

All this tells me is that AC Milan played a successful match of "hide and counter."

    No "art form" to this........

It also tells me Vilanova has to get his team to stop relying on Messi to save them and get the others to f#cking step up.

Not many world superstars have ever been one-man teams.

Hahahahaha. So I am reading all of these "Messi didn't show" and "Italians (footballers anyway, certainly not their military) have taken defense to an art form" and then read how Messi has a hard time with Italian teams....and then I start to think: "I bet the referee was either English or some other nationality who likes rough-up defending and does not call much.

And were was last night's referee from?

Where they play games like this...

...and fouls that result in things like this below are never called...

...and now I KNOW why Messi was taken out of his game

i thought it was common sense and universal knowledge that italian national team and serie a clubs start to play serious only when the knock out rounds start

Did you watch the Leverkusen match? The first goal they scored was Lahm missing the ball completely with an easy pass and giving them an open net goal while their 2nd goal was the funniest (or perhaps sad from a Bayern perspective) own goal of the season in the league. Bayern also hit the post on 2 occasions, any other day it would have been a clear cut victory. It was a very awkward and lucky match.
