lol, dammit. well, i would rather have NY win the cup than the douche canoe quakes. it would be interesting if the red bulls do manage to take the thing, that would have to make ballouchy the most undesirable player in the league, having been traded 3 times and the team that traded him winning the cup post-trade.

I think Medhi works for the Quakes. The real issue with San Jose is withstanding the ferocity with which they bum-rush the goal box and finish and/or creatively create contact and fall down.

Like San Jose - LA's back to its old tricks of being out played but scoring opportunistically.

Vancouver and Seattle are no slouches. All those teams can beat RSL (or be beaten by RSL).

At this point I just hope RSL can maintain 2nd, maybe leapfrog SJ on a swoon, but even holding tight in the #2 spot may be a chore with a road-heavy schedule. Beating LA and Van and Seattle on the road would be huge.

This is more or less how I feel about it. Obviously winning the Supporter's Shield would be ideal, but, if that doesn't happen, it's important that RSL stays at least second in the West. RSL will set itself up for a chance for a good run for MLS Cup if it manages to maintain at least 2nd in the West and acquire more points than the Eastern Conference teams (which RSL is currently on pace to do).

Regardless of whether RSL is 1-5 in the West, it's potential opponents in the playoffs (likely any two of SJE, SSFC, VWFC, and LAG based on current standings) are going to be very difficult. SJE is the best team int he league, I think VWFC and LAG will continue to improve as the season progresses, and SSFC continues to make moves to improve its squad. Ugh.

saw that on my MLS app this morning, did a double take followed by a WTF? seriously the last thing I expected. this tells me that chivas is serious about making a final push for a playoff spot, Robin has really been turning that team over.

I'm shocked NE would give him up, especially for a guy that's continually injured.

And L.A. Crashes in front of over 60,000 in Seattle. Hats of to Seattle both the team and fans.

SuKC vs Shittle tonight for the USOC.
    Who ya got?
    What benefits RSL more?

I think Seattle winning could be argued to benefit RSL more as then that would be a team from the West with a CCL spot already around their neck. I don't think they'll finish above us in the table or the playoffs, though, so maybe its just a break even.

Oh, and Borg saying this could be a MLS Cup preview?

I didn't think your conference affiliation had anything to do with CCL spots. Either team winning will help RSL get into CCL next year if:
    a) They reach MLS CUP or win the SS
    b) RSL is the next team behind them in the final standings.

Personally, I'd like KC to win. Give their new fans something to hang their hat on, and keep Seattle's fans from continuing to claim they are the best thing since sliced bread.

*I don't have GolTV, so if anyone finds a stream showing the game, please post a link. Thanks!

My point was that if Seattle wins, then that is 1 of 5 possible teams on our side that would already have a spot in CCL. So them winning actually would help us if say they win, San Jose wins the SS and we finish 2nd overall (and in the west)

Then 1 CCL spot would be up for grabs between 3 other WC teams, us being one of them. All we would have to do is either get to the MLS Cup ourselves, or hope one of SJ or Seattle did.

But for the same reasons you said, I'll probably be pulling for Sporting.

Also, thanks intoxicated small person for the game link

alonso gets the nice early yellow card, if that's later in the match it might have been red, seattle would have been ********ed having a player sent off 4 minutes into the match.

i'm still of the opinion that alonso is a total scumbag.

Incredibly stupid yellow picked up there. He was clearly getting a warning and kept mouthing off then pushed the refs arm away. Wonder if he'll last the match.

Been a pretty ugly game. Good defense, but not a lot on offense. Some good dives from the Flounders, but Salazar has been watching for them and calling them. Rosales has been going down like a sack of rocks with the slightest touch.
