It wouldn't surprise me at all if it was rampant. That said, where is the line really? Why is sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber ok, but doping isn't?

IIRC, he was well known for having unique physiology, his large lung capacity was notable. That could make a huge difference without any doping being involved.

I don't know. And, when I don't know I don't jump to conclusions. I'm rather interested in evidence.

Exactly. It's a slipperly slope. Couldn't you consider the "train high, race low" philosophy a form of blood doping? And aren't things like gels and bars a type of performance-enhancement?
You do that. But since I have no horse in the race, no ability to affect the situation, and no access to the evidence, I'll keep jumping to conclusions.

Agree with a previous post about the great look of all the new stadiums.
I have also noticed alot of talk about the 20th franchise for MLS and how the odds on favorite has been a 2nd club in New York. What I read today was cool as our commish, mentioned that New York was not a done deal and that some other cities are on the radar as a potential 20 club.
Some of the mentioned citys were: Detroit, Miami, Atlanta, Las Vegas, San Antonio, San Diego.
What do you all think??? Me I would love nothing better than to see the new club in Vegas. That would be a epic (and much shorter for me) road trip.

    You missed Orlando too. ;)

But yeah a Vegas team would be great for RSL nation. Very close and nicer weather than Crapidland.

Vegas is a terrible idea in my opinion, and I'm from Nevada. There's no way anyone will want to attend games in the summer - it's way too hot.

The heat issue is the one issue that would be tough to deal with in Vegas especially in the heat summer. But I would have to think any group trying to bring a club to Vegas would have plans to have a closed stadium.

Yes, the plan is to have a covered, air-conditioned stadium.

Listen I have no idea if Vegas has the support it needs. I was just saying that its the closest big city to SLC that COULD have a team and it would be the easiest to road trip to.

But I see its chances as slim and not a frontrunner.

Vegas has a huge international community and could support MLS soccer.
    Would create a huge rivalry.

There are reasons why other leagues have never expanded to Vegas. Too much potential for games being thrown etc.

Imagine what they would do to divers? (or would that be encouraged in that kind of environment?). Union better worry about Ruiz playing there. ;)

would they be allowed to bet on MLS games given that there was a team in the city? I cant remember the rule I heard (and it could easily not be true) but one of the reasons other leagues havent moved to Vegas is that it would make it so you couldnt bet on games in that league...

Not sure if it is the whole league or just the team, but I do know that Vegas locks out a lot of betting on some of the events there, like UNLV games. The know full well that people won't bet on the games if there is any whiff of match fixing.

Big hit on Vegas years ago was that as a 3 shift city, a professional team would not get the support from enough fans. That has probably changed since the city has grown so much over the past 20 years. College basketball has huge betting in Vegas sports books and yet UNLV is always a top notch well supported program.

Vegas would be great from a Utah-based fan perspective. It would be the closest, and most appealing location for many RSL faithful.

However, despite the sizeable population, I think many sports leagues have questioned whether Vegas could provide a sizeable season ticket base which is important in any sport, but critical to MLS teams.

I think this might be a longshot. I wonder what the odds are?

And really? what were the odds of Salt Lake City getting a MLS franchise a few years ago?
Having placed countless wager's over the years in Vegas, My money is still very much behind New York getting the 20th franchise, specifically a Cosmos New York bid.
I would however be somewhat willing to put a long shot bet on Las Vegas. Reasons: 1. Money 2. Money 3. Money.
The world knows Vegas and the world knows soccer!!

I hate the Cosmos idea. Naming a team the Cosmos does not make them the Cosmos.

I have no credibility to this claim, but if the Cosmos were to come back, I would put money on Ronaldinho playing for them.

    just sayin...

And this exact sentiment is exactly why it will probably be the "New York Cosmos"
