How much more revenue can Seattle expect from ticket sales alone than RSL?

I remember hearing last year that they had increased the seating capacity to 36,000. If we use $20 as an arbitrary ticket price (Seattle's pricing structure is much higher), and we assume both RSL and Seattle sell out all of their games, Seattle would net $10,880,000 more than RSL.

    Difference in # of seats = 16,000
    Price per seat = $20
    # of games = 34
    Net revevue = $10,880,000

i totally understand all the arguments as to why RSL could never pull off a signing like this. what i'm poking fun at is all the talk that garson put out there from december to february about bringing in a guy who can contribute and be a cornerstone of this franchise. "we need goals and we need goals in big games so we're going to go get goals and bring in those players that can do that...."

so let's sign a 20 year old kid who's going to need a couple years, findley who was great for RSL before but hasn't done much since and plata who has done....nothing of note. all the while stringing fans along about making big changes for the better.

martins could be enough to push seattle over the top, he's a consistent goal scorer and someone who can make an immediate impact for the team. IMO, if he's signed, seattle is the favorite in the west over the quakes and galaxy.

I have no head for numbers, but there are 34 total games in the regular season, only half of which are at home, so wouldn't the numbers be based on 17 home games, which makes the total net $5,440,000 more than RSL?

    Still a chunk o' dough.

Crap. I knew something was wrong with that post. This is why I try to only post jokes and small things. Come on Senor, stick to what you know how to do. Leave the numbers to Balance.

To be fair, Findley did score in games that mattered. While that might not be what they were talking about, it does hold true.

This photo now on the homepage for MLSSoccer.com really does show the pending changes with our club well. It's not a who's who of RSL like we've had for years, but a who? who?:

Good article by the way - RSL 2.0 shows MLS the way.

Seattle has done well on dp acquisitions, its true, but the same risks are involved with martins as they were with that swedish douche bag junkberg.

Martins has a great pedigree, age on his side in dp terms, and a lot of potential. However, Seattle travels second most in this league in terms of distance (right behind vancouver) and plays over half of their games on turf. If martins has any sort of knee problem or really any injury that seems to reoccur it will very quickly.

Overall, we should be sorta happy with Seattle doing this. It puts pressure on other clubs (read rsl) to replicate

    Some good news.
De Rosario will be suspended for DC's home opener against RSL.

Yeah, that is good news since DeRo usually has record breaking matches against us.

GL is up in the night with this RSL 2.0 moniker. This is clearly RSL version 3.0. Duh...

Agreed 3.0 - I think he's just ignoring the ugly first couple years.

For him it's 2.0. Maybe it's like Star Wars. We know there's those first years(films), but it's a lot better if you just forget they existed. :D

I wonder how much pressure the Cosmos are going to put on MLS before they cave and let them join the league.

Definitely 4.0 now. We sucked, then we were ok, then we were a powerhouse, and now....who knows.

Outside of the city? They'd have to probably survive at least two or three years of running a team, pull in ridiculous average attendance(like 10k/game), change ownership and somehow keep the league from getting a stadium inside NYC proper. Until most of those things happen, I don't see MLS going along.

Considering the Cosmos have yet to show anything resembling an organization? I'd say their odds are basically 0.
