Initially I didn't understand it, I think I still don't. But Aimar has been a player that has only played in Spain. Personally I would have liked to see him play in Italy.

That said, I dont think that going to Benfica is a step down from Spain in terms of skill and level of play. Next step is NYCFC. ;)

I have a question for you guys. In the game against LA, you guys were flying a banner with a LION on it and the number 14. Can someone explain the meaning?

That was in 2004 at the Cotton Bowl. Scott Garlick was the offending goalkeeper.

It's a big reason why I usually roll my eyes when people lament about how many goals the guy would've scored if he didn't dive. The answer is of course zero. His diving didn't kill budding chances, they were attempts to get something out of chances that were already dead.

I doubt that is 100% true for a variety of reasons. Drogba and C. Ronaldo have both drastically reduced their flopping whilst increasing the number of goals they put in the back of the net.

    Here's a new team that's just forming

They don't look like they're afraid to shoot from the outside.

And the defending team's keeper gets beaten near post.

A Virginian learns the hard way he should have picked DC United instead of RBNY:

Happy part of Story; misguided fan lives in VA but supports PinkCows:

    http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=556281&sec=mls&root=mls&cc=5901

Greek Tradegic part of Story; NJSEA bans long suffering fan for life (perhaps doing him a favor):

    http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2008/07/red-bulls-to-bl.html#more

Can you pity and HATE an organization and group of fans at the same time?

Wait. Yes, yes, I believe I can.

BTW: Recovering RB fans are welcome here.:D

Back with our weekly summary of real playoff position, as indicated by Points per Game.

Since everyone was kind enough to tie this week our Points per Game situation improved slightly but not enough to move into third in the East. Obviously a win would place us in a tie with Chicago for that spot.

Since TFC tied, they are now tied with Chivas for 1st in the West. Too bad they aren't actually IN the Western Conference. Wow do we need a single table.

You don't understand why Bobby Boswell did not refuse to have his ego boosted by someone who appeared to be a fan and wanted to document meeting the legendary BB.com himself? Really?

Hey, let's set the record straight. That douche is NOT a Virginian. He's a NJ MetroRedTards-fan douche who moved to Virginia.

That he could possibly be a douche without a team is hilarious! :D

While we play Houston tonight, Toronto FC squares off against Impact de Montreal (of the USL) for the Canandian berth in the CONCACAF CL Qualifications - Montreal is leading the competition and needs only a tie to advance to play Real Esteli of Nicaragua for a spot in Group C - (We're in Group A) -

Also in Group C is New England which has a series against Joe Public on 08/26 & 09/02 - Aug will also be a busy month for NE with at least 7 matches after the All-Star game, including our USOC SF at RFK, and potentially 9 matches if they win the USOC & SuperLiga SF games
