Especially since Vermes wanted to save his last sub for a rainy day or something.

Watched the Ching testimonial the other day. Really entertaining game. From a San Jose perspective, Wondo played pretty well at CB and got a back-heel assist in the last couple minutes when he moved up. Kelly Gray looked pretty sharp for a guy who last played in 2009. I guess he is still only 32 though.

Just saw the intro and that was enough. After all this time and seeing all the familiar names and faces, I won't ever forgive AEG for taking away our championship team. What a farcical bunch of crock.

Don't know if anyone is interested, but the final of the Emperor's Cup is on right now, with the score at the half of Yokohama F Marinos 2, Hiroshima San Frecce 0. If you are interested, it is available on the web at

I feel the same way about the FC Tokyo loss. No end to the frustration one feels at wins by PK.

Tokyo's play really dropped off this year it seems to me. Still wish the Quakes would look to partner with a J League team. I feel the leagues are similar and would benefit from trades , loans. Or am I wrong.

No, I don't think you're wrong. I wonder if the Quakes even make an effort in that direction. There are a number of players I think could work well in MLS like Hisato Sato from Hiroshima, Tulio from Grampus, etc.

I think last year (or possibly the year before?) they said that they were going to look in Japan. But there was only one Japanese player that I recall trialing in preseason, and he was an older dude. I think he may have gone to play for the Timbers, before they were the MLS Timbers. So that must have been 2011 or earlier.
