Good. Giuseppe Benedict Arnold Rossi can eat his hearts out. He was w0nderfully deer in the headlight-isque on ESPN.
Boca/Corinthians should be better. We were watching Spain/Portugal at Mucho's downtown. Owners are big Boca fans. Would be nice to see Boca/River Plate at La Bombanera one of these days (or any reason to go to Buenos Aires).
Most every game with Spain is a yawner to some extent because they are so deliberate and patient, like a python slowly squeezing the life out of its prey. You know what's going to happen already. It just takes forever to unfold. But when they press a little harder, like they did towards the end of that game, then you see some really great soccer that is a bit more exciting to watch. Looking forward to possibly seeing Germany / Spain, because it will be strength against strength (slow-burn possession vs. quick counter attack). But Germany has to get by Italy, which won't be easy.

Great to see Seattle only get a draw and RSL to lose last night. Both teams are in real freefalls after having such hot starts - Seattle has not won in 8 MLS games, and RSL has not lost 3 straight since 2007 (according to MLS reports). The only other team in the West that played well last night is Colorado, with Casey and Cummings back, they are looking pretty good.
I actually think that's good. Colorado has a chance to be the team that keeps Seattle out and hopefully ChivasUSA keeps the Galaxatives out.
Agree - and the Colorado fans are pretty likeable, both in the park (I've gone to two games there and had a great time) and on BigSoccer. After the Quakes beat Colorado on the "questionable" Gordon PK, there were a couple of posters that said the call was questionable, but for the most part they just said that the Rapids blew the game and didn't blame the ref. Very refreshing, particularly after hearing the RSL and Seattle fans all moan about the ref when the Quakes beat them. Now the LA fans are joining in, saying the ref cheated them last night. I would love it if Colorado passed by Vancouver, RSL and Seattle in the standings.
Maybe Lampard will just take a wage that fits under their salary cap... Or maybe he'll just replace Becks.
And Michael Farfan buries the Galaxy as Beckham tries to explain to Lampard "we're actually really good, you'll love it here."
Somebody better come out soon and explain how exactly LA is going to sign Lampard, and the answer better not be "the league will now allow 4 DPs!"
Why do we care? I guess we could be worried that our FO won't want to keep up the pace of our own team improvement, but I hope Lampard signs and don't really care how they do it. Galaxy will be the team of 4 dp's if it happens. What a great game @ Home Depot!
another series of results that went our way tonight with the exception of vancouver, can only be pleased with that
If they need to open up a slot, and they are smart, which they aren't, but just hypothetically, they'd find a way to dump Keane. I don't think he brings anything close to DP value, though at least he appears to be a reasonable sportsman, unlike Becks. He is a better than average MLS forward for sure, but not much more than that IMO.
Yeah I just watched the highlights for hte first half that I missed, and Keane absolutely gave up after missing his 1v1; he should have helped by making another run. Honestly he plays like royalty that is being forced to deal with peasants.
Donovan is a DP. They should dump Keane, or "release " Donovan to Everton or some other team. No other solution other than league-favored rule-bending shenanigans.
Well, I have to say, that was a pretty interesting day for MLS yesterday. I watched as much as possible, which included the Seattle/RSL game and the LA/Philly game. The results were pretty favorable overall for the Quakes except for the Vancouver win over Colorado, although that one probably hurts the least. Watching Sigi and Kreis both complain to the 4th official the whole game was sorta fun. RSL is having their problems in the finishing department, but for the 1st half they made Seattle look ridiculously bad. I expect them to still be at or near top of the table by season's end. But no goals is good goals when it comes to their offenses and the Quakes. And that dagger in the heart of LA by Philly. Loved it.
