i was refering to bands like Poison, Warrant, Ratt....all those bands. I'm not an Ozzy fan...but i have a little more respect for him. I'm more about the old-school punk... The Clash, The Ramones, Stiff Little Fingers, Gang of Four, even Television.
Ozzy was great up till Randy was killed..it was all down hill after that. some great bands listed there..you into the Undertones? Sham 69 or how about hardcore..Queens bands like Kraut, Token Entry, Leeway , Murphy's Law, Agnostic Front ?
They were (are?) great. And really cool. When I was in England years ago during Glastonbury, I saw them play (on tv, I didn't go). 100K Brits pogoing to scooby snacks. I had no idea until then that they were so popular over there. The boys looked thrilled too.
they're HUGE in the UK...but Ireland especially Dublin goes nuts for these guys..maybe cause so many of those people have been to NYC..When I go to see them over here , say at the Bowery Ballroom..at least 50% of the crowd is Irish born..but once again most great American bands have to make it somewhere else before they break here..CRAZY
Thats the craziest thing. Two of my fav bands are finally starting to break over here after being very popular in the UK/Europe. Black Keys and Kings of Leon.
In defense of those glam rock bands, if you got over the glam lol they werent that bad. Ramones = straight outta Flava Hills baby!!!! The Ramones are HUGE in Argentina, this is the Argentine version:
im friends with a guy who used to play for Murphy's Law (recently though), he's a huge arsenal fan (a sad thing). and Agnostic Front was one of the first hardcore bands i got into. I have a VHS from 92 its Sick Of It All, Agnostic Front, and Gorilla Biscuits, i believe its at the Wetlands.
Yeah I knew a few of those guys as well..great days back in the mid to late 80's ..sunday matinee shows..Murphy's would have a keg on stage...do some moshing [before it became popular] jump on stage grab a beer down it and stage dive back into the crowd..ahhhhh the good ole days
yep..and doing the pogo for the whole show..back in our day..if you fell..someone would pick you up..it wasn't about hurting people..it was about getting your frustrations out.. these kids today
I'll let you know when they have there yearly Summer BBQ/concerts.Party in Astoria..its a blast..a lot of those boys are soccer fans as well
Prob my fav rapper of all time. The Gza/Genius of The Wu Tang Clan: *EXPLICIT CONTENT YOU RAT BASTARDS*
**Explicit Language** This is a funny GZA video from when he played in England. This was the day after the Ricky Hatton fight and he discusses it as well as soccer. He was pretty ballsy lolol. But you have to figure that someone from Bed Stuy wouldn't be afraid of a few Engy's lol.
