Like I said, being relevant is a very intoxicating thing for a country with an inferiority complex.
Their top-priority is NOT bringing in these fugitives it's having some cards left in their hand while the game is still going on.
There's a reason why the head of the CIA was just over there.

Has the US ever arrested spies and foreign agents?

    I'm sure they have.
but probably not ones who were informing on a terrorist group that's waging a terror campaign against your own government and the governments of your allies.

Please. Bradley Manning did a good thing too, his ass was arrested and incarcerated. The Pakistanis will probably get all the info they can out of these guys, and then release them.

leaking state secrets and thereby jeopardizing US foreign policy as well as the lives of American citizens - I suppose that can be considered a good thing - though I'm not sure from what/whose perspective.

At least they did not end up like the reporter that talked shit about their intelligence agency. That is progress.

Yeah, I'm sure most Pakistani officials were heartbroken when they saw Sheikh-Mohammed's little home movie starring Daniel Pearl.

Good or bad, there is no equivalence between what he did and giving information about Osama Bin Laden.

Well the comparison Umar was trying to draw was between Manning and the CIA informants that the Pakistanis just arrested. My point was, those guys informed on a mass terrorist. manning informed on his own country - allegedly.

Perhaps Pakistan feels that those arrested there informed on it ...

    In other news: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43440941/
I'd have preferred his head on a stick at Ground Zero, so that people could draw their own conclusions.

I am so disappointed. I see this thread come up with a new post and its not news that zombie Bin Laden was spotted shambling out of the ocean today.

It's the kiss of death. If I was a bright talent moving up the Al Qaeda ladder, I'd make sure I'd stop my climb at number three.

yeah, but as soon as the US gets the number two, guess who slides right into that slot. at the rate the US is taking out number twos, you'd have to stop at middle management to ensure your continued existence long term.

The only way this gets fixed is if number three or number four suicide bombs number one and number two and then either number four or number five move up to number one and number two. :D

This is very silly. The followers of Bin Laden would not make the house a shrine - they sometimes attack people who make shrines to human beings, considering it a form of idolatry.

You're presuming that AQ types are immune to the very human trait known as hypocrisy. Or selective reasoning.

It's a PR stunt. They can do with the building what they wish, but they should be somewhat honest. The most convenient way to demolish the building would be to bulldoze it. The firing of missiles etc makes it clear that it is intended as a public spectacle rather than being done to prevent it becoming a shrine. Maybe it will be cathartic for the armed forces too.

Did they forget to pack the children in the building?
