Did I miss something? We all know the Orlando Sentinel sports section is awful, but there's not one mention of Saturday's game and result. These people are clueless. In fact, today, 7/25, there's a countdown that says 1 day etc etc since "the Magpies visit Orlando". Anyone know where to complain? Is it worth it? I suggest we complain and put our notes here. I don't know why the Orlando Sentinel is blatantly ignoring our team, but it doesn't help our cause.
Re: Orlando Sentinel is Horrible They posted pictures, but that's about it. Yeah, pretty weak. They've been extremely spotty with their coverage. They did have an article for our loss to Bolton. We'll show them soon enough.

Re: Orlando Sentinel is Horrible That sux. It seems the Ft. Lauderdale folks have the same issue with their print media. My local team is also leading the league (NASL) and we don't garner much interest in our leading paper either. Hooray for the Interwebs!

Support the internet and other news media that support soccer in your town. Remember, it is not hard to start your own blog and voice your displeasure with news media that is not supportive of your interests. Personally, I would suggest posting a video of THAT newspaper being used for dog wipe, confetti or kindling for our tailgating party. Go OCSC !

Sure, most of them stink about objectively reporting actual news (sports, etc.), but that doesn't excuse them from it. A medium supportive of your interests is not a news outlet, it's opinion, a fan magazine/blog/podcast/twitter account. The difference between news and your fanzine is the aforementioned 180 degrees. [/ThreadJack] The Sentinel does have some odd editorial decision-making in when and where they cover the city's pro soccer team. It features a story on a player helping his girlfriend with a life-threatening disease, but buries a story about a home match against one of the more prominent names in world soccer? I say, try to believe for the best: maybe the sports editors at the Sentinel have to learn about how to cover the game, and these are growing pains. In their favor, they did add a whole soccer-specific page to their website and the day I read news about off-season personnel moves by Bayern Munich---in the Orlando Sentinel---I just about soiled my undergarmentry. And who needs that, really?

Read anything about the Magic or the guy in question right now, Dwight Howard, and your stomach will turn. Bianchi is the absolute worst, and if you read any of the comments about his articles, it's obvious the Sentinel could care less about it's actual readers. So maybe I shouldn't care, but when it comes to OCSC surviving in this town, I do. AT LEAST cover the results and a brief write up for every game, and maybe an article every once in a while about the fact that we're leading the league.
Re: Orlando Sentinel is Horrible Brant is good. I wish he were the Sports Editor. To this day, people still come up to me and say, "Hey, I just heard Orlando has a soccer team! Have you been to any games? Where do they play? Are they any good?" These people tell me they heard about the team on Real Radio or they read something about it on their friend's facebook wall. It's just sad. What I don't get is how educated people (the so-called journalists) can be so short-sighted. Soccer is the future. Pretending like it's not happening won't make it go away.

I mean how much would it hurt his blog to post a few more things about a league-leading pro soccer team that's a mile from his office at the Sentinel? I don't blame him, but he could do a little more with little effort.

Several styles of Chili will be offered along with cornbread, rice and weiners (if you want to enjoy a Chili Dog). Our special guests include members of The Regiment.
