Interesting that Tampa signed a coach with strong T&T connections the same day Orlando signs a T&T player.
Re: Orlando City SC news thread 2010 Everyone wants something to do with T&T! Soca Warriors ALL DAY!!
Re: Orlando City SC news thread 2010 Trinitarians are a common sight in US leagues on average the islanders have 4 of them every year and there was a bunch spread out through the league last year.
So lets discuss/debate the future roster of City. Here is the roster from last year in Austin: No. Position Player 1 Mexico GK Miguel Gallardo 3 USA DF Wes Allen 5 Jamaica DF Kieron Bernard 6 USA DF Lance Watson 7 Brazil MF Sullivan Silva 8 England MF Eddie Johnson 10 Cuba MF Yordany Alvarez 11 USA FW Maxwell Griffin 12 USA DF Leonard Griffin 13 Kenya MF Lawrence Olum 15 USA DF Kevin Sakuda 16 USA MF Michael Callahan 18 USA DF Joey Worthen 19 Trinidad and Tobago DF Yohance Marshall (on loan from LA Galaxy) 21 USA GK Sean Kelley 23 USA FW Kendal McFayden 25 USA DF Sam Brill 26 Colombia MF Ronald Caicedo 33 USA DF Jay Needham 61 Trinidad and Tobago MF Stephan Campbell 77 USA FW Jamie Watson USA FW Perica Marošević (on loan from FC Dallas) 9 Trinidad and Tobago FW Devorn Jorsling I know players like Eddie Johnson (Portland MLS) are gone. Anyone else?
OCSC's website shows about 12 players currently on their roster. I think you could compare it to Austin's season ending roster to see who has retired or been released. I'm sure their will be additional roster turnover as the season approaches.
Philly waived Christian Arrietta today. This quality defender formerly of Puerto Rico Islanders should come back home to Orlando.
also Kerry Baptiste failed to catch on with the Sounders. he was on trial with them but was released. he has been playing recently with Money Laundering FC (aka Joe Public aka the criminal Jack Warner's team).
City's been on a signing spree lately. And they just put the crown on by finally signing midfielder Lewis Neal yesterday. I think we've got a good team here. Just hope we don't pull a UCF men's basketball and end up sucking in-conference after dominating our friendly schedule.
I'm sure I'm not saying anything that everyone is already thinking But they have most of the core of a really successful team from last year. So it's not like they are starting from scratch. Hope they can add some successfull players to that mix. I know you still have to go out and play the games, but they should be one of the top 3 - 4 teams in the league if not the top 2.
Is there a running list of OCSC signings? I saw a tweet from Erik Ustruck saying he was training w/ them. Anyone know if he's been signed? Erik was a quality reserve player for the Dynamo a few years back and played w/ the Rowdies last season. Nice guy too. I hope he makes your team.
Hey thanks for that, glad to hear he's back in the game. I wasn't aware he had broken his leg but I gather it's all good now. Best of luck to OCSC!
Midfielder headed your way. Justin Fojo http://www.noquartersoccer.com/2011/04/sean-flatley-signs-contract.html I know he played with you during preseason (TFC match?) and is a local College of Charleston stand out. I'm sure someone Fuller knows well enough.
Incoming LB/LW on a two week loan from the Seattle Sounders: http://twitter.com/#!/joshuamayers/status/86192650302132224 Tetteh is Generation Adidas from UCSB and was drafted by the Sounders in the 2nd round as a LB, but he hasn't worked out well at LB and has shown some promise as a LW.
FYI, List of offseason signings: And announced tonight John Rooney James O’Connor: http://www.orlandocitysoccer.com/news/index.html?article_id=626 Jamie Watson: http://www.orlandocitysoccer.com/news/index.html?article_id=633 Anthony Pulis: http://www.orlandocitysoccer.com/news/index.html?article_id=663 Matt Luzunaris: http://www.orlandocitysoccer.com/news/teamnews/index.html?article_id=582
And some outs... -RSL and O-City announced that Yordany Alvarez had signed with RSL for 2012. Not sure its a loan extension or just a buy out. Either way, no Orlando for Yordany. -KIRsoccer reports that Lewis Neal is on trial with RSL THE John Rooney?
According to RSL Soapbox, their SB Nation blog site, it is a permanent transfer. Of course MLS doesn't reveal specifics of their dealings, but SCORE!
That is the worst news I've received since...ever. Neal is (was?) the smartest player on the team - he just never really made a bad decision. He'll make the jump to MLS - no problem. Dammit! But best of luck to him...
First of all, there can only EVER be one "white Pele". And even then you'd be wrong, Pele was the "black Rodney Marsh". Orlando City fans don't seem quite silly enough to try and get away with calling this mediocre player by any such nickname. But it'll be fun if they try...
