Angry Ferguson hits out at referee Webb The man who has had the most one sided home refereeing in possibly the history of the world complaining about a ref who did a a pretty good job.
You say pretty good job but the reality was quite different. As for Ferguson's remarks did you even bother to read them all? Some of the antics from the Arsenal crowd were rather pathetic. So much so that it forced an Arsenal official to come out and make a public statement about it. There is also little doubt that the official favoured the home side with numerous 50/50 decisions going to whoever shouted hardest for it. Sadly that is what you come to expect with officials these days. There have been far superior officials in games between both sides previously.
OK, so you're a ManU fan. Your bias shows through in your recollection of the match. I did read the whole story and this post was obviously about the comments on the referee and nothing else. This is nothing more than a highly ironic version of "Sour Grapes".
It really seems little more than a game the top managers play. They moan loudly about not getting decisions and referees then know they are under scrutiny, and are more liable to have second thoughts about giving tight decisions against them.
Are you honestly trying to claim that was the best refereed match between the sides and that officials are not influenced by the home crowd, even subconsiously?
would you try and claim that match showed the referee was biased? I don't mean subconsciously influenced, but actually biased? Would you not agree that Man Utd, especially at home, have had the rub of the green, perhaps a tad more than they ought to have done?
I was simply pointing out the hypocrisy of the opening post. Every home side gets the advantage. It's not bias but the officials being influenced by the crowd. All Ferguson did was comment about it to try and get a fairer deal from the officials next time around. Every manager has done so and whining simply because it was Ferguson is rather pathetic.
EXACTLY! LOL at pointing out my hypocrisy! I never anywhere said that teams don't get an advantage at home. I was pointing out the irony and hypocrisy of SAF crying about the referee since I have never seen a team get more of an advantage from the refs at home than his own. I think the ref did a solid job in this match and was in no way a post match talking pont. Since it's obvious at this point you are a Man U fan; When was the last penalty against Man U at Old Trafford? How many have their been in the last 10-15 years?
so you really believe that SAF was just making a general point about refereeing in the game today rather than complaining, yet again, that his own team were hard done by, despite the fact that his team benefit from such "bias" at very least as often as anyone else?
The sole reason behind this thread was to bash Ferguson. That is despite all managers doing exactly the same thing. All I did was point that out to the thread creator. How anyone cannot grasp that is beyond me. I have nothing further to add.
NO, all managers do not whine after a match like the one under discussion. Nor do all managers do it while getting the most preferential home treatment in the entire league. It is easy to see why a Man U fan cannot grasp this. It is also easy to see that fans of teams other than Man U or Arsenal can see that it was sour grapes whining on the part of SAF. They lost 2 points at the death, which can be very frustrating, and he chose to have a go at the ref.
Ridiculous thread. It would be nice if people actually watched games to get a better insight of it.. SAF said what any other manager would have said. Nothing wrong with airing out his opinions. Because it is SAF, is why it is blown out of proportion..
Says the Magpie fan who should know that his manager, Big Sam, has done and said the same type of thing time and time again...You do know that Allardyce is Newcastle United's manager right? This will be my last post on this laughable thread..
and he knows it would be. In fact he's relying on it to be made into a big story as that's the whole points of rants like this - to make refs wary of giving controversial decisions against his team. If he can make a few referees just have second thoughts about their decisions, either because they question whether they really are being biased against Man Utd, or just because they worry they'll get slated by SAF in the press if they have got it wrong, then SAF has done his job. It's no different to political parties complaining about the BBC having left/right wing bias prior to elections etc, to try and make news editors think twice about being critical. The fact is, the top guys get the decisions. It happened when Reading got promoted too, so I know it's pretty universal. It's just that certain managers have got pressuring referees down to an art form.
Allardyce has managed at Old Trafford and been a beneficiary of the most one sided home refereeing in EPL history? I must have missed that.
That's just your ill-informed personal opinion to suggest that we're the beneficiaries of the "most one-sided home refereeing in EPL history". Nobody suggested (as you appear to be doing in your inarticulate post) that Fat Sam managed Manchester United. Perish the thought! As for Ferguson's comments, I probably wouldn't have gone quite so far, but he certainly has a point with regard to last Saturday's game. Another pointless thread. If us United fans are one-sided in support of our team, then you are also being one-sided against us with these silly posts.
Ill-informed opinion? Please tell me when was the last time a team was awarded a penalty at OT? How many times in the history of the EPL? You are blinded by your bias. Also, I never wanted Allardyce at NUFC and have voiced my opinion on the matter plenty. However if you want to use how he acts to defend SAF's sour grapes whining be my guest.
I agree that this thread is pretty ridiculous. Fergie whinges sure, but so do most of the other 19 managers in the top flight, all with the same objective, to air their grievances and try to influence future refereeing performances by their target. The "penalties at old trafford" is an old one, how many times can you use it to back up your argument? jump off the wagon for a second.
