Great publicity they're generating. http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/news/1116308/Sydney-FC-starts-with-pre-season-win
Really hope they come down hard on these morons, more stupid stuff in Round Three and they could do their club some serious harm.
Apparently ex-FC morons. http://www.smh.com.au/sport/a-league/splinter-group-blamed-for-fracas-20120815-2494z.html#poll
Should be pointed out that most of the SCC rejoined the Cove when the group was banned from SFS, this is a pocket of really special individuals.
Lots of people on twitter pouring cold water on it. Like how they've got the rules bent for them if it does happen. And what happened to the no-marquee, community club thing, Lyall?
I suspect that a piss poor membership drive while the crosstown rivals are raking them in thanks to their over the hill Euro will change a lot of minds about such trivial things as being a no-marquee, community club.
any truth to this? Inquiries have also been made on several international players who would be considered genuine marquee signings, with one South American midfielder - arguably in Del Piero's class - recently in the club's sights. http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/7712642/Del-Piero-has-Wanderers-eyeing-marquee-deal Riquelme would be the only one to spring to mind (just left Boca and currently clubless)
All smokes & mirrors at the moment. The publicity that ADP has generated in just rumours and press alone is worth it.
The guy in my profile picture. Possibly coming to Australia. Possibly playing in the A-League. Oh, my.
"Playing at the back of the field, Michael will control things from there and is a great organiser on the field."
Getting some favours now. http://www.smh.com.au/sport/a-leagu...se-quota-of-foreign-stars-20120927-26o9g.html
I don't really want Ono to go to the A-League, he's still useful for japanese teams. But I admit if he did I'd actually watch a few of their games.
Well that's saying something seeing as I don't have pay TV. Ono will be a very good signing and probably get to see a player completely different from any the A-League has seen (not necessarily better or whatever, just the style will be much different). However as for the reports that say this signing will let FFA sell TV rights to Japan, they're probably going to be disappointed. Kazu's presence as far as I know didn't sell A-League rights to Japan and he's a much bigger deal (even at 38 or whatever age he was then) than Ono at 32. Infact Kazu at 45yo is a much bigger deal (as far as popularity goes) than Ono at 32.
Kazu was here for all of four games, however. Anyway, I'm glad to see such a strong focus on local talent and youth development from Australia's Newest Oldest Community Club.
And in more important news. http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/a-league/news/1122985/Wanderers-complete-Gibbs-signing
They mean 'Sydney FC Grand Finalist Joey Gibbs' surely. His name's on the memorial scarf and everything.
