One of the seeds would have to be in our group.

Not sure who I would want. Spain is going to be loaded. Mexico will bring Hernandez, Vela, and Dos Santos. Brazil is gonna bring 3 proven overaged players. GB would be the weakest but they're the host. I guess playing the host in the Olympics would be a great experience.

With all the pressure they'll have, there will be room for an upset. Why not.

Belarus and Switzerland aren't as easy as you guys may think due to the simple fact that they aren't participating in Euro 2012 which takes place right before the Olympics.

Euro 2012 will definitely affect who gets chosen for the Olympics and some players who may have played in the Olympics probably won't because they'll be too tired.

what sort of format is football at olympics? im guessing with 16 teams in 4 group, 2 top teams in each group can move onto quarter finals (8 teams).

Personally I'd want GB as a seeded team, only because they're under enormous pressure and notorious chokers at big events. :D

Switzerland are always good with their youth teams, some will probably have been part of the victorious U-17 WC a few ago.

Oh well, it's all for experience especially for J.League guys who've never played overseas. Can't wait. :)

I don't think they're having classically seeded teams. The pots looked like they were all geographical mainly.

Pot 1: GB, Belarus, Spain, Switzerland.
Pot 2: Brazil, Uruguay, Mexico, Honduras.
Pot 3: Japan, Korea, UAE, NZ.
Pot 4: Egypt, Gabon, Morocco, Senegal.

That would make it tricky... but I agree that not getting through would justify ending Sekizuka's spell.

All the groups seem pretty much the same, isn't Morocco playing at the Toulon tournament?

    same group. Good tune up.
btw Morocco have some pretty good players such as Belhanda who will be in the short list for the French League best player award. He torn us into pieces two years ago when he was playing for France U21.

Good group: i'm curious about Spain. Only a little regret: group B would be perfect.

wtf? Mexico's a powerhouse and Switzerland is probably better than Morocco... (they won the u20 world cup few years ago I think) I'm happy as it is. It will be hard to play away from home as usual but if they can keep cool they'll make it

Spain are first, no question about that, and the big rival is Morocco with some great players such as Belhanda (Montpellier), Barrada (Getafe), Benatia (Udinese), Labyad (PSV) ... Their generation is excellent, the weakness is more the teamwork. It's going to be a really difficult game.

This will be by no means an easy group. Honduras won't be a walk over.

It's not gonna be easy but it's as easy of a group you can hope for in a major tournament from a non seeded side.
