Thought i'd give this one a bump in honour of their first win. Great goal by Robbie Fowler! They're starting to look like a respectable side now.
It's the power of the Fowler. Maybe he's been having some of that "Green carpet" Fozzie was talking about the other week?
I support them, but not when they play Brisbane. I'm actually really torn when they play each other TBH. Being a born & bred North Queenslander makes it very hard for me to cheer against them but on the other hand, i've supported the Roar since the league began. It's a bit of a predicament, so i just find myself having to be content with whatever the result is. LOL
This is what I'm going to have to go through when a Western Sydney team arrives in the A-League. Chances are I'm going to go full turncoat
Especially with what happened on Saturday when I went to the game. I went with my neighbour, who's a madder Liverpool fan then me, and we watched the first half up near the Cove, as per my usual habits- the atmosphere is better. Then he asked, for the second half, to go behind the goals at the away end, to watch as he put it "Robbie score the winner", and since it was his first A-League game I thought I'd humour him as well as the novelty value of it all (since I've never done that), and we walked down there and I watched the entire second half including Robbie scoring the winner from the away end! I'll put up some pics tomorrow!
Thought North Queensland were pretty unlucky against Adelaide again. 2-0 flattered Adelaide I think. North Queensland have a few glaring problems though. Henderson has made a lot of mistakes in the opening eight rounds of the season and today he was once again at fault, making a poor clearance and gifting the ball to Adelaide for the first goal. How long can they persist with him? Secondly, when Talay is out they have no creativity in midfield. Griffiths is probably their best other option but I wouldn't want to rely on him too much. Their defence is still like a bit of swiss cheese at times with gaps appearing everywhere. Against the better A-League sides, not Adelaide, they should be brutally exposed. Up front, Fowler and McBreen are decent but McBreen blew a lot of good chances against Adelaide. McBreen works hard, no question, but he's just gotta be hitting the target more. Dyron Daal and David Williams are good players coming off the bench. Daal was good, maybe he's worth a start again sometime soon? I think North Queensland have two consecutive away fixtures coming up, so they might find themselves languishing even further at the bottom if they don't iron out the silly mistakes from their game.
Spagnuolo was by far your best player, in the second half. And in that last half hour, Adelaide improved tenfold and outplayed the Fury, who ended up frustrated. Adelaide deserved the two goals, but Fury probably deserved at least one. Can't blame Galekovic for stopping the few decent chances they had, though. If I'm not mistaken, there was one offside call against the Fury that would have led to a chance. It was a terrible call, in all honesty, and that probably should have been their goal (if they'd be able to convert the chance, but I have my doubts about that one). Spags is definitely the super sub, in the Fury squad, though I'm not sure how well he'd do playing a full 90 minutes, if he were to start.
That's a huge concern for me, as well. Their best player for a lot of the pre-season is nowhere to be seen. Perhaps he's fallen out of form, while the rest of the players have picked up in competitiveness. It would be disappointing, if he's simply fallen out of favour, with the coach. Never good to have a coach playing favourites, with his squad. Leads to poor man management.
All this talk about Agius finally making a comeback, and he's nowhere to be seen. Anybody know what on Earth happened?
